I just purchased a set of 18" Cayman S wheels for my Boxster S. I needed a second set of tires/wheels for the track and as much as I would love a set of Fikse FM10's, it's not in my budget at this time.
I'm going to use my 18" Boxster S wheels for the track and the 18" Cayman S for the street (I think the Cayman S wheels look the better of the two). I'm contemplating painting the Cayman S wheels black in the future and would love to see what they would look like.
I've searched the forum but haven't been able to find any pictures of black 18" Cayman S wheels. Anyone know of any pictures?
Tess,
Thanks for those pics. I was thinking about having my Carerra S wheels powdercoated black, but now that I see black wheels on an Arctic Silver car (same color as mine), I think I like the aluminum look better.

Just as an FYI, but the factory does not paint the Cayman S wheel as you see in the above picture. Rather the spokes and outer rim are left in natural with the hub areas painted. There is a picture of a white CS in the Gallery painted as I describe.
Tess,
Would you mind uploading those into the gallery under the tires and wheels section please? That way future visitors will have an easy place to find them!
Thanks!
Oh, I forgot to ask. Does anyone know of a reputable place in the San Francisco Bay Area to have wheels painted or powder coated? I'm not ready to have this done yet (as I'm still waiting for my Cayman S wheels to arrive), but would like to start lining up some quotes.
I may end up painting the wheels myself, but want to check out some shops first. Any recommendations (good or bad) are appreciated.
If anyone is interested, I found 2 shops in the San Francisco Bay area that powder coat wheels. Both places need to see the wheels to provide an accurate quote, but one was $125-$175 per wheel, the other $75-$95 per wheel. Both come highly recommended, so I need to find out why the difference.
OMG, I should have never come accross this thread. Black CS with black gloss powdercoat wheel would look so f-in mean. One more thing on my mod list.

Here's something for us 'need our wheels in black' to think about. While out and about with my wife today we spotted a black Carrera GT which had it's wheels painted a sort of semi-gloss black. What looked pretty cool (and somewhat agressive) was a line of yellow paint around the outer edge for each wheel, about a 3/8" wide stripe. The yellow matched the yellow PCCB calipers very nicely. On an all black car (includes the tinted windows), it looked very striking.
I'm now thinking about doing a similar paint trim on my Boxster S track wheels after I have them powder coated black. I'll use red paint to match the S calipers.
I wasn't smart enough to use my camera phone to get a picture of the Carrera's wheels, but attached is a similarly painted wheel that I found on the website of a local shop that paints wheels.
