I would like opinions before I start putting too much time into my tires. I'll have CS wheels with PS2's to start. Here's some info to help you form an opinion:
1) So I'm in an area that's below 45 degrees F, oh, maybe from Nov 1 until April 1 (try not to think about that too much) much of the time. Lets round off and say 6 months of lots of below 45 degree days. My other 2 vehicles have dedicated winter tires, so I'm obviously a big believer. Had my Dad's C2S (Pirelli P-Zero's I think) out the other day when it was 20 degrees and they were a bit slick.
2) I'll probably do 6 track days this year, at least an hour of track time per day. On the track I won't be crazy fast, well, maybe. Just doing it for the fun, not any competition.
3) If I put 10K miles on in a year, I'll be VERY proud of myself.
So, I'm going to get winter tires for sure, I think I'll probably even get some now, even though I'll only have a month or so of cold left. I guess I'm gonna be driving it a ton in the next month

.
I'm not against buying another set of wheels, had even thought about some 19"s, but want to be sure, and my "street tires" at least for now will be 18"s.
So, I'm down to the following: run my PS2's for all summer driving, including track time, but will I wear them out? Then I have to buy another set of PS2's next year?
I was going to have one set of 18's switch each season from winter to track tires.
Maybe I will be OK (and money equal) if I just run the PS2's and forget about dedicated track tires. What I'm trying to do is save money where I can and if I'm stuck buying a set of PS2's every year because of the track usage (I know, it depends on how aggressive) I'd rather buy a new set of PS2's every other year, and then get dedicated track tires.
I'll keep Jim@tirerack good and busy!
I'm sure other's have had the same dilemma, and that I've presented the question in a manner that is clear as mud.
