I've finally picked my car up! **Edit: added some photos**

and its fantastic!

After ten years of VWs, including writing in the motoring press about them i'm happy to say I made the right decision!

Picked the 2.7 up from Bolton OPC on monday and throughout recieved excellent treatment from all the staff especially James the saleman. Big thanks to him for putting up with the "i was just passing so i thought i'd call in" routine since I ordered last Nov.

The sound the car makes is astounding-more so when the last car I had was a 1.9 TDi Golf! done 230 miles in two days and its 2:25 am here as i've been out all night driving!

From fifty miles on the clock its been averaging 32mpg which has been a big shock from such a young engine. All in all i'm not in the least bit disapointed with any part of it and its gonna be me and Porsche for some time to come!

Cheers for all the guidance from the pre-order stage to now guys!

Heres some very quick and non artistic photos!

Congratulations man! After 10 years of cheap VW's and Audi's it sure feels good to own that little brother. You are not gonna get that kinda milage after break in, believe me, the things just starts begging and begging for more revs. Enjoy and post some pictures!

Lucky you.

Went to the dealer yesterday to find the car I'd ordered sitting on the tarmac - Yippee! That was the end of the good news. For reasons I'm still trying to ascertain, the manual gearbox I’d ordered, has been replaced by an automatic. It was rather bizarre driving a car I’d been waiting for since December without excitement or enthusiasm – an automatic’s not for me.

To say I’m annoyed is the understatement of the decade.

Enjoy your car Gary!

Good news Gary. SO just remind us of the color and spec so we can keep an eye out for you on the roads of Manchester!

Any chance you can make it down to Bedford for the Cayman meet down there on the 31st March. Don't worry, we won't make you put it on the track just yet

And Kwaaiman is right, don't expect 32 MPG after run in............it just craves to be drivn harder and harder as the engine gets smoother and smoother.

Enjoy it.

Jack

Bloody hell, that's some b*lls up! I take it you've got the copy of the dealer's factory order confirming your desired spec.? The dealer I ordered it from was insistent I check this carefully.

I assume the OPC has let you run around in the Tip while they sort out the correct car?

Paperwork all in order and the dealer acknowledged the error as he told me of it. Right now, it's in their hands - I'm giving them until tomorrow to check out and confirm what my options are and then I'll decide what to do.

Has anyone any experience of escalating an issue like this to Porsche?

Sam
