I'm still in the honeymoon phase with the Cayman 2.7 - I still keep finding little details to be impressed by. Sad, but as they say, the devil is in the detail!
When spec'ing the car I thought a lot about the exhaust trim, I liked the twin pipes on the S but thought the cost of the mod was a bit extortionate (no change there then).
However, I have now come to really like the (trapezoidal?) shape of the standard exhaust. Even more so when my son Marc pointed out it was the same as on the Bugatti Veyron that he had just helped do a detail clean on, and that is around 900,000 pounds worth of car! Mind you, Marc has a new Astra VXR which also has this type of exhaust trim, so he's probably biased.
Cayman on the left, Veyron on the right!
What do you think?

By the way, what's the deal with the funny lumps either side of the rear number plate on US cars? (Perhaps I should ask on the main forum?!!)
Here's a shot of the European car style.

I agree about the exhaust tip, and think the 2.7 version is nicer than the twin pipes. Not only is the Veyron the same, so is the latest Lambo Murkywhatsit 640 LP thingy.

Now you see the "logic" is this. In the good old days, you used to have a nice chrome bumper. However, this wasn't really good enough to protect your car, and quite a bit ugly. So then came the integrated bumper which had greater protection. This is the one we all know and love. However, there are people out there in the world who have their heads firmly up their bottoms and decided that the integrated bumper is just too nice, and what they really want is another bumper to protect the bumper that replaced the original bumper.
I understand that there is a move now for a 3rd bumper to protect the 2nd bumper that protects the 1st bumper that replaced the original bumper.
See! Its simple to understand ;-)
Luckily this is only in some parts of the Good Old US of A, and not at all in Good Ol' Blighty - and I hope NEVER to be.

The US of A has become a big nanny state. those bumps are their to protect us from suv driving al qaedas...
Mate; your nanny is a careless dipsomanic teenager with a drug habit and 35 year old dealer boyfriend compared to the ex-Prison warder nanny's we have over here.
We have >5000 'safety' camera's on the roads to save us from ourselves, 100,000 camera's covering every inch of every town centre, and a government who don't trust us to decide what to eat, how much to drink, or to climb a ladder to reach something from the top-shelf.

I hate those bumps too! If the weather is nice tomorrow, I'm gonna file them off.....
My CS is on the the ship. I too like the exhaust on the 2.7 better. What I would like to see is an oval pipe like on the RS & RSK's of the '50's except in chrome. Always thought that these really looked "nasty".
Can someone tell me what the "polished" Boothe Tip is...polished aluminum? or something else? There is no discription on the web page.
