Nurburgring in July

Terry wasn't the only Cayman owner at the Ring a few weeks ago. This time 3 Caymans and a special guest joined RMA for a superb weekend on the Nordschleife, while the F1 guys enjoyed the gravel traps of the boring GP circuit!

For the most part we were exceptionally lucky with the weather. Except just after 2pm on the Sunday, when a monsoon struck which caused chaos for the F1 guys! I had planned to go out at that time, but fortunately delayed to watch the start of the GP - a cheer went up from the crowd as each F1 car slid off the track - I was glad not to be doing the same in my car!

In total I guess I did around 30 laps - less than last year, but these RMA days are more about quality than quantity. Had a couple of good sessions with instructor Jaco Velders, which was very useful.

I was going to wait until more photos had been posted publicly. Here are a few tasters:

No traffic jams on this ring!

Following a GT3

This wasn't the only support team on hand. Later on the first day his rear window blew out!

The usual suspects

Special guest - the new Manthey Cayman. Just completed - pity it wasn't a year ago, I might not have ordered a GT3!

Manthey spec sheet. I talked to someone who had driven it - he was bowled over with how good the package was.

Eventually there will be a gallery up at Frozenspeed Motorsport Photography. This guy's photos are superb!

In the meantime, some nice pictures here: RMA ring trip report 21-22nd July

All in all a great weekend - looking forward to another trip in November!

Anyone know what front spoiler that is on the Matheny car? It doesn't look like any that I've seen to date and actually doesn't look like it fits right, as if it came off say a 997 GT3 front bumper and was tacked onto the Cayman, but perhaps the pic isn't a good representation. What did it look like in person?

The rear wing looks like the painted version of the Strosek wing. They don't list who the exhaust is by, could you tell?

As far as I know, carbon front splitter and rear wing are Manthey's own. The front fitted fine, but I would be cautious about getting a painted carbon part for something that scrapes along the ground! Particularly when it costs more than EUR 1000 !!!

Manthey have 3 distributors in the US (NY, FL, CA), so suggest you ask them for more info, or drop an email to their head office.

This package has been developed and tested on road and at the Ring for the last year. So whatever it looks like, I'm sure it works well!

The photos look great. Looks like you got some good dry laps in.
So you are back in November? What are you expecting the weather to be like?
Was Terry with RMA as well? How did he get on?
Got a delivery date on the GT3 yet?

Jack

Looking for the Oct issue of GTPorsche

My Barnes and Noble are out of them and it featured the Manthey Cayman.

This is a great car to base Cayman mods on imho.

I think I read somewhere that the Cayman has about 30kg lift at the front and 19kg at the rear at speed. The Manthey spoiler and wing address that issue.

They are running KW coilovers with their "secret" alignment settings.

I read about the car in another Brit mag - but am itching to find a copy
GTPorsche. Anyone find a spare copy in their town let me know. I'll buy from you!

Cheers!
