Question UK Duplicate SIM card for telephone module

Just a quick one as searching through many threads, am I correct in assuming there is no way to duplicate a UK sim card to avoid the annoying issue of removing the sim from ones mobile phone every time I go out in my CS. I have called O2 but they tell me it is not possible.

Anyone from the UK resolved this issue?

I have heard that it can be done through some providers, however I cannot confirm. I plan to get a hold of a a pay-as-you-go sim then simply forward calls from my main phone. This however does not get around the issue of making calls.

Ditto what namyacs said , my service provider would do a clone card but it worked out quite expensive , so I just got a pay as you go card for a fiver and forward my calls to it when im in the car

Vodafone do a Multi-Sim contract (same number) and I had this in my Boxster S for the PCM+phone

MultiSim card
Both sim cards can "make" calls, but only one sim card can receive calls at a time.
I had 2 sim cards. Sim card 01 was in the car. Sim card 02 was my mobile

To nominate a handset to receive calls
Key * 131 # Send (from that handset)

To nominate another handset to receive calls
Key * 131 * 01 # Send (e.g where 01 is the sim card designated number for the car)

To check which handset is nominated
Key * # 131 # Send

To check which sim card number you are
Key * # 130 # Send

Having spent some time trying to sort this out today, I have found the following:

- Only Vodafone offer a true Multi sim to new users, however only on old tarrif scheme and it was very costly, it is also very basic and means if you are using MMS or GPRS or Tri-band features it wont work. It will be a phone and thats all

- Both Vodafone & Orange can offer multi sim to existing users but see above

- Buying a pay as you go number and diverting your main mobile to this number is a great option for incomming calls but ofc very expensive if you wish to make outgoing calls (like me).

The solution I have taken is to add another number & seperate to my existing tarrif and swallow the additional £13.50 line rental per month.

Kinda sucks to be honest but the most cost effective solution I could find with Vodafone.

How do you find the PCM phone call reception quality - or more important - How do your callers find talking to you.

All my callers find the reception and call quality so bad that I have now given up on the in-car Sim card and PCM phone and just use a Bluetooth earpiece for the mobile.

Hey Chris,

I will let you know after the weekend as my CS arrives then, although now reading a ton of problem threads with the Bose system, well I may be trying to sort that out first :/

The Bose system on my 350Z was actually very good and I never even thought about testing it in the Cayman......

Worried I am

ditto absolutely appalling quality, seems to be a Porsche thing, my dealer did mention a fix but no sign yet so I have resorted to looking like a startrek extra aswell with a Bluetooth earpiece!

btw Bose in mine sounds excellent!

I am concidering buying a clone card from ebay although I think it will not work. Other than that is to allow my o2 to expire and move to Orange or Vodophone which both have systems that allow 1 number 2 sims

Lins,

It might be worth you waiting till the early part of next week, I take delivery of my car on Sat and will be able to test the clarity of the system, with a few people above saying that the phone system is that poor they have resorted to a bluetooth option, well it maybe money saved for you

My phone works fine with my 2 Orange sims.

My main phone is set to divert when unobtainable so I just turn it off when I get into the car and it goes to the in car sim.

Reception and sound quality are fine

reception and sound quality is fine, the problem is with the mic, the other person picks up all the car/road noise and not much of your voice!
