19" Wheel options

I have an option to change my 19" Sports Design wheels for a Carrera S 19" wheels. This would be a direct swap from a 997S. I prefer the Carrera S wheels where as the "superior one" prefers my Sports Design wheels.

The SO feels that I will make the car less desirable for selling on in the future.

Both sets of wheels are minted and my CS is A/Silver, what is the general opinion?

The carrera S are the lobster forks right? I see some porsche guys love them. Personally I think they are the most hideous wheels I have ever seen. I would melt them down for the raw material...haha. I am not a huge fan of the sports (that is what I have), but they are much better than the lobster forks.

Don't the 997S wheels have both the wrong widths and the wrong offsets for a CS? Maybe 8" and 11" (?), which would throw the width stagger off and increase understeer, even if you could get the 11" wheels and appropriate sized tire to fit without rubbing.

Well, to each his own, but I think the Carrera S 19" wheel is the best looking wheel, and I see more of that wheel on Porsches in AZ than any other single model. I doubt either will make a difference in resale value.

997S Wheels ARE NOT the same as Cayman S wheels.

They may "look" the same but as said above, the widths and offsets are different.

Thanks Guys

I was going to call Porsche to confirm the offsets etc but it sounds like I am sticking with the SD, to be honest they are slowly growing on me as time goes on. The main thing is that they are totally unmarked.

Thanks for your help.

I have CS wheels and prefer them to the others. That being said, I do like the Carrera Sport wheels - not Sport Design - but the sport. They weren't available when I ordered my car. And its a good thing or I wouldn't have been able to choose.

Once the cleaning of the CS wheels have been mastered, they aren't bad enough to melt them down for fishing weights ... at least not to me.

Another vote for the Classics although I think they look better on some colors than others.

I personally like the Carrera Sports and Carrera S wheels, but have never been crazy about the Sport Designs or Carrera Classics. But every one has different opions which is why they offer more than one wheel.

Another option if you're comfortable with it might be buying some of the Carrera S knockoff wheels widely available and selling your OEM Sport designs. You could probably get more money for your OEMs and it probably would not hurt the resale value.
