PASM - Porsche Active Suspension Management
This active damping system offers continuous adjustment of individual damping forces based on current road conditions and driving style.
The driver can choose from two setup modes, ‘Normal’ and ‘Sport’, using a separate ‘damper’ button on the center console. ‘Normal’ mode is designed for general road driving and circuits with uneven tarmac. ‘Sport’ mode is intended for smoother track surfaces, where the harder settings help eliminate pitch and roll.
In either mode, PASM continuously evaluates the current conditions while automatically selecting the corresponding damper rates from the respective set of mapped values.
A range of sensors are used to monitor the movement of the body under acceleration, braking and cornering maneuvers, as well as on poor road surfaces. The PASM control unit then evaluates this data and modifies the damping force on each individual wheel in accordance with the selected mode. The result is a significant reduction in body movement as well as a better grip on the road.
For example: if ‘Sport’ mode is selected, the suspension is automatically set to a harder damper rating. If the quality of the track surface falls below a certain threshold, the system immediately changes to a softer rating within the ‘Sport’ setup range. When the quality of the tarmac improves once more, PASM automatically returns to the original, harder rating.

Hi Jack, that's not me cleaning the car, thats the detailers applying the Zymol Porsche gave for free before I drove it off.
I'm going to stick to 4200 rpm until 500 miles and then take it easyish until 1k, but I am not too worried about going over it on occasion, to be honest it's bloody hard not to!
Congrats on the car - looks great, and great spec too. Mine is at Guildford now, but I'm going to ait til March 1st for it (though its proving hard!). Who was your salesman down there ?
Hi Tony, I dealt with Paul who proved to be of great assistance. Fortunately there was not a long wait for the car as it was a cancelled order, so only took 4 weeks from purchase to receive it. The only option I would have added would have been the sports seats, but the standard ones are proving themselves regardless.
Anthony welcome to the 'offical' Cayman owners club.
As for running in.......just go for it after the first 200 miles.
We have SD wheels, I apply a light polish on each clean, it helps stop the build up in the corners of the spokes. Every third spoke you can just squeeze your hand through the spoke, this helps clean the inner rim.
Hope you can make one of our future planned Cayman meets.
Hi Everyone, many thanks for the warmest of welcomes and kind comments.
As a force of habit I find myself waving to every vehicle adorned with a Porsche badge that drives by, unfortunately no one waves back....a far cry from Lotus ownership.... I am looking forward to meeting up with fellow owners in the near future to have a natter
Thanks for the tips re cleaning the wheels, I am hoping to be cleaning a lot of brake dust off them! Pics and proper first impressions coming soon!
Anthony, congratulations with your Cayman. In I few days I will pick up nearly the same one. Can you also post some pictures of the interior?
