Windows open/close using the remote key!

Please could someone just confirm this IS possible and that someone has had this programmed into their key and it works.

I've requested this from the dealer, at PDI time, and was told it was not possible, infact that "although it's stated in the manual it's wrong, I wish Porshe would delete this from the Driver's Manual" to quote the "team lead".

Also alarm does not trigger so I suspect the "trainee" who performed the PDI and spent some 3 hours re-coding the car or trying to, inadvertantly disabled it!

I think you are looking for

A product called remote key.

Wilhelmy-IT Inc. smartTOP - remoteTOP - remoteKEY Porsche Carrera Boxster Mercedes Benz SLK SL CLK Comfort One-Touch Soft-Top roof control units and Comfort remote controllers

There are whole threads on this product that you can search for on the forum. Bottom line is the product adds tons of functionality. Windows up/down is one of like 7 or 8 features you can choose to enable or disable once the box is installed.

It does take a few minutes to install, and requires a bit of skill, but nothing that someone couldn't do themselves.

I have had one installed since day one, and I haven't looked back.

Good luck.

The remote key works great and is pretty easy to install yourself.

Guys, thanks but..... I did the search and am aware of the product, however I may have misunderstood the standard capabilities of the Porsche Remote Key.

I assume therefore the standard key cannot be programmed to open/close the windows and that in-fact the manual is in error in this instance.

Can someone just confirm this for me.

Back when this was first discussed, several European Cayman owners reported that it was a capability of their cars that was left out of the US version. I can't verify or deny the claim, but you may find one or two of their posts around here. Sorry that I can't provide more help.

Ny dealer told me the same thing. They tried it several times and could not get it to work and contact Porsche NA and that is what they were told. I then went with the remote key for the window feature as well as the delayed trunk opening feature. I always found that I was accidentally opening the trunks.

I asked my dealer Santa Barbara Porsche to program the car so that the key would work as explained in the manual and they did so. It now works as advertised. I also had them change the delay to 1000 miliseconds which has helped the unentended trunk opening thing. However, I now carry the key separately (not on a key chain) and the problem has all but disappeared.

My shop programed mine to work with my standard key. Both windows up or down with the key in the driver's door lock.
