Help needed PLEASE

I collected my new Cayman S from a German dealer yesterday. Drove it home and now I'm stuck!
I have all the documents and I'm completing the forms to register the car here in the UK.
So here is my question.

Where is the engine number shown on the vehicle?
The VIN is shown on the inside of the driver side door and on the plate
visible through the windscreen..
But I cannot find the engine number anywhere and I need it to register the car.
I don't have the user manual yet (being posted Monday). I do have the COC documents etc.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Is that in the sitting area behind the seats or in the rear boot area behind the two seats. How do you lift/ move the engine cover?

There is an article in teh ARTICLES section of this website on removing the engine cover, I think it is in the Misc section. It is very easy to do.

Thanks for that. I have removed the carpet to reveal the silver engine cover. No number...
Is the number on the underside of the metal cover??

The "stupid grin" will disappear with the purchase of replacement tires at 15,000 miles.

From the manual (2007), I assume it still holds for the 2008.
