Porsche Vehicle Tracking System

My Insurers are demanding a tracker system and the local OPC now say that the VTSis the new in-house system they approve of. Apparently they've introduced it since the end of January and all MY06 cars have the preparation for the system as standard.

Does anyone have any experience / background info for the VTS? Will I be better off insisting on something like a Tracker Horizon?

Thanks in advance!

We went for the tracker again, you get insurance from Admiral with no tracker required.

OPC appear to behard selling the VTS system, at twice the price of a tracker!!

OPC rang me and asked if i required a Tracker installing, asked what make they were selling and they told me Tracker, ordered a Tracker Monitor. Insurance under £700 from Norwich Union Direct, option on website not to have a tracker and it will give you a price.

Collecting car beginning of March, arrived 3 weeks ago but yet to see in the flesh.

The Porsche traking system is more expensive to fit (£1100) and has a higher annual subscription fee than Tracker. Tracker also give you the option to pay a one off fee which covers you for the whole time you own the vehicle which is equal to 3 annual payments up front.

The only technical difference between the packages is that the Porsche system comes witha cardwhich you carry in your pocket or wallet, and which must be present in the vehicle when started or else the system is activated. This safeguards against key thefts.

Personnally, I know where my keys are. If they get pinched I'll know the car is next.

Correct.

I found out that if you add a named driver it also brings the insurance down. Added the girlfriend who's 39 and it came down by £70.

Not sure if i could trust her driving it as she's only driving a Corsa 1.2 at the moment.

Mmm, cheepest I manage was £1050 on that site. Tescos is still cheeper for me. I even deleated some features, like NCD protection to see if that got it down, but still £300+ off your price. Maybe at 33 I am higher risk? Sorry Icon, that's assuming you are closer to your girlfriends age than mine

A couple of years older than the girlfriend.

Got my first quote from AON who specialise in sports cars. £914 with me as the only driver. The person i spoke to was Paul Harris on 01483 787770.
