Zymol or not through Dealer?

Hello All

just placed deposit on my first porsche.....a 2yr old used cayman S. I am getting through OPC and the dealer is trying to sell me a Zymol tratment but at £460 (5-6 hours work) I think that they are taking the p*ss

the paintwork etc is unmarked and I am tempted to have such a treatment done but would appreciate any thoughts on suitable systems and professional companies that can do this. Both interior and exterior. Looking for someone who will travel to the bedfordshire area. I am not interested in any DIY systems

I have had Supaguard done in the past on new cars and frankly not been to impressed, ie couldn't tell the difference

i'd appreciate opinions, advice and recommendations!

many thanks in anticipation

Wow.... That sounds like a lot. Especially because Zymöl is super easy to put on and take off, especially on a new car where you don't need to HD Cleanse it. You literally wipe it on, let it sit for 10-30 seconds, wipe it off. No buffing like nasty paste waxes.

I'd look for a detail shop to do it. It shouldn't cost that much.

Zymöl Glasur Glaze for Porsches costs about $100 for an 8 oz. jar. That's probably enough wax to last the life of your car but you would have to do the work yourself. P21S costs less that that and is also very good. It looks like they are charging a lot for their time and experienced. I would either do it myself of find a detailer. (It's not hard to wax a car. It just takes a little time. I always wax a new car just to get familiar with it and make sure there aren't any dings or scratches that I might have missed when I picked it up.)

Check our car care sub-forum for more advice or go to Autopia. Maybe someone at Autopia can hook you up with a detailer in your area.

I use John Drake - he is Zymol licensed and comes to your house - did my first one, outside only for £250, (5 hours work) - I am expecting the next one to be cheaper. I am sure others can also recommend their favourites - these guys do this all day everyday too so are really good.

Check his website: Zymol wax and cleaning products from JohnsWax

Do not pay £460

Don't pay that for Zymol ! Whilst Zymol is a top wax (I have a pot of Glasur waiting for my Cayman S), it isn't a treatment as such, in the sense that sealants are!

Your best bet is to find a detailer on:

A world for detailers...

Some of the best detailers in the country are on there, and most will charge you a lot less than you have been quoted.
