Thought I'd put this on the UK forum as we obviously have different legislation and deal with different laser guns etc from the guys in the States.
Whats the best laser jammer on the market ? (or 'garage door opener' if you use its proper terminology )
Obviously they're a bit thin on the ground information wise and they're not supposed to be used for jamming speed guns, but I am able to get my hands on the Snooper 950x if thats any good, or are there other ones I should be considering to protect my license ?
Living in central scotland, there's a fair few bridges which the local plod like to hang about on, often at night, so I don't really want to be totting up points for doing 80 in a 70 and the likes
Are you asking for a device to "detect" the speed gun and allow you to react (oftern too late), or something to scatter the laser to stop the Plod getting a reading?
It seems they will aim for the front numberplate, and thats why generally jammers will be positioned just underneath. The best ones sound when they have activated so you can reduce speed and then turn it off to allow them to get a reading on how fast you are going. If it constantly jams the speedgun they'll probably pull you over to see what the issue is and then legality issues crop up.
I've heard all sorts of tales of big fine etc.
One thing is worthwhile to mention is that North Wales Police have night-time technology on all their speedguns now so I guess other forces will too soon if not already.
I used a Road Angel compact that doesn't have any kind of detector, just GPS to warn of know sites and fixed camera locations.
Escort Radar
At ESCORT, we're continually improving our line of radar and laser detectors with the best technology. Our latest invention, the GPS-powered PASSPORT 9500ix, is no exception. It provides the best long-range protection against every known radar and laser gun in use in North America, but also incorporates GPS accuracy to silence each and every false alert. It is by far the most intelligent, fully automatic radar and laser detector ever designed. You drive. It learns. End of story. http://www.escortradar.com

I looked in to this earlier this week, seems you can get done for perverting the course of justice, car gets inpounded and major problems with your freedom and such like...
Yes the item I am looking at is a 'garage door opener' which may accidentally also scatter laser beams, possibly.....
The device CAN be switched off from within the cabin, and has a audible alert. It is virtually undetectable, and is sold legally as a signal transponder for opening garage doors and gates etc. As I am having an electronic gate fitted at the end of my driveway, I see no issues with plod etc getting involved, happily
Have you heard about the new Escort 9500ci? Escort showed it at the CES this month. It's an all new custom installed Laser/Radar defense system that will smoke every other solution on the planet. It uses the same GPS technology (only improved) that is in the 9500i, but it is a full custom installed system.
The folks at Escort switched to a dual antenna configuration to increase the radar sensitivity by 100%. In the past sensitivity meant false signals so you needed to find an acceptable compromise. Well, now that you can memorize and ignore false signals, it's no longer an issue.
There have also been improvements made to the laser detection/shifting side, adding routines and software to make them effective against all modern guns including the double pulse guns that can break through current offerings.
I believe this product will be available around April 1st, 2008. I'll see if I can find out more and report back.

$1,9995 or about £1,014 at current exchange rate, but no doubt it will be more if it ever reaches the UK (can't help noticing my local Harley Davidson dealer has INCREASED their prices this year)....
At the moment I've gone with the Laser Star £300 unit, which is being installed next week. I'll let you know how it goes, but I've done a fair bit of reserach and its the most advanced one out there at the mo thats within a sensible price range i.e. sub £500 !
It protects against the vast majority of guns, and 'cloaks' the vehicle for a user defined time (up to 10 secs) then stops the jamming and allows the fuzz to get a reading 2nd time around by which time you have had both audio and visual warning and ample time to slow down.
Only thing I need to let me dealer know now is what to set the time delay at....
Thoughts ? Don't want it too long its obvios something is afoot, but also don't want it too short I get caught out....
Say 2 secs delay time plus 3 secs breaking time = 5 possibly ?
