Cayman S Wanted UK - AMG gone...

Hi everyone,

I have just sold my SLK55 AMG and am looking to buy an 07 Cayman S in the UK.

first a little about the SLK55amg - a great straight line car! 0-60 4.7seconds V8 engine sounded amazing. The hard top roof was great too.

However it was simply poor around corners - the massive V8 weight in the front and no weight over the back wheels meant it used to slide everywhere. I also went through tyres like anything.

Took the car across France and loved the grand tourer ability to sit at high speeds and soak up the miles. However it is time for a change....

I am looking for a Cayman S in Black, grey or silver on an 2007 07 plate. I am flexible on the spec but it must have PCM, heated seats, manual transmission, Xenon's .

If you want to sell privately or knows someone who does get in touch - I have the cash burning a hole in my pocket.

Also is you want to know anything else about the Merc let me know

stefan

Good decision, the AMG is a good car for the highway but nothing else, and I think much less fun to drive.

I think you'll be very pleased with your decision. I had a 2000 SLK, albeit with the Supercharged 2.3, which is no match for the AMG. However, it was a fun car; the top was great.

The Cayman S is a whole other wonderful story. No regrets here for upgrading. I hope you experience the same. Good luck in your search.

Hi Stefantomas,

I would like to know your opinion about the gearbox of the AMG 55. Did you like it or not that much ? I'm very interested in this car and I don't know which one to choose because the CS is wonderful too !

Thanks a lot !

for a automatic the 7 speed box was good - I hardly ever used the manual mode as the shifting felt a bit lagged.

It was great as a cruiser but it never really felt like a proper sports car
