View Poll Results: Which Weekend for the UK Cayman Meeting?
OK, so a number of you have an interest in a bit of a get-together.
I know the SW lads are the most eager of this bunch, but how about we aim for the Cotswolds as it may tempt a couple of us Northerners down for a Pie Barm and a shandy.
Anybody like to put forward a date/gaggle of dates to get us going?
I'll be there; thought we had talked about an overnight.
How about last weekend in March (Sat 29th / Sun 30th) - a week after Easter and before school hols so most people should be about.
Things that I would want to do: (in a perfect world)
1. Stand around chat and look at cars.
2. Drive, country run
3. Drive, track
4. Talk more about cars
5. Stay over - drink beer
6. Tell everyone how fab my new facelift 997 will be
7. Not get too close to Mojo's exhaust without ear plugs
8. Good pub food
9. Good pub
10. Get some good pictures
11. Buy Alan a beer - I owe him a lunch.
12. Remind everyone about my facelift 997...DFI, DSG...
13. Stand around some more
14. Look amazed at the sheer yellowness of Karel's car
15. Look at the cleanliness of Andy's car
16. See Startlight's car and wish I was brave enough to order white
17. Wish my photos were as good as Nick's
18. See RichP's car too close in my mirror - oh no that was last time
19. See if Jack cleans his car
20. Have fun
DFI
Direct Fuel Injection (DFI), is a new technology that Porsche states can cut fuel consumption by up to 15 percent, while increasing power by up to 13 percent. DFI cuts emissions by warming up the catalytic converter more quickly, and ensures a sharper throttle response. Better for your right foot - and the planet, then.
DFI allows much more precise measurement of fuel supply and injection at pressures up to 120 bar; it has numerous combustion modes, with different cycles for cold-starting, low-speed driving and performance driving.
As the name suggests, DFI injects fuel directly into the individual combustion chambers, instead of the intake manifold. The injector valves have an electromagnetic mechanism that controls each injection with astonishing precision, while a high-pressure pump provides the necessary pressure—up to 1,740 psi—to accompany the rapid fire of the fuel injection.
Precise geometry of the injector’s position and its spray pattern is a key factor in helping to improve power, torque and emissions of the engines. The specific placement of the fuel as it enters each chamber creates a swirl that improves the air/fuel mixture, and therefore the overall combustion process.
At engine speeds up to 3500 rpm, a double-injection process is used. In this mode, the required fuel volume is delivered in two successive injections per working stroke. The resulting benefits include faster catalyst warm-up and increased torque in the upper load range.
By forming the air/fuel mix directly in the combustion chamber, DFI contributes to engine cooling. As a result, it is possible to increase the compression ratio and with it the power and efficiency of the engine.
The direct injection process is continuously adjusted. The engine management system reads changes to throttle inputs and performance requirements and, as you drive, the air/fuel mix is monitored and adapted as required. Oxygen sensor circuits within the exhaust system provide accurate emissions control.
FYI Croctoberfest in the US will be the first weekend in October, not sure if you want to wait that long to do an event in conjunction but just letting you know...
Croctoberfest
Croctoberfest is the annual gathering of Cayman owners and enthusiasts to partake in several fun events over the course of a few days. Croctoberfest 2006 was held in Kansas City, Croctoberfest 2007 was held in Las Vegas, and Croctoberfest 2008 will be held in Atlanta, GA on October 2nd - 5th.

I can't do that weekend. Wifes MBA Award Ball, yawn............
But don't let that put you off. Obviously if it is good for everyone else then let's march on with that date. Unless anyone wants to put forward another date?
A 2-Day Track and road session was mentioned previously, so how about Sat 5th April Beford Autodrome Open Pit day (£199) followed by evening/afternoon drive to pub/hotel in Cotswolds and a Sunday 6th April Drive and Pub Lunch in the Cotswolds? People can then come Saturday, Sunday, or both days.
Or is that a little bit too much for people to organise and a bit of a dear weekend?
I'll try and come...........(o'er sorry missis,) but would prefer a blast round a track as well.....so Bedford also looks good !!
.....Sorry I'll be a sheep and follow what everybody else is doing, for once (unless that Yellow bloke is coming...'cause he tends to spin in front of you if your at Bedford...aint that right Karel !!)
11. Buy Alan a beer - I owe him a lunch.
Your dammed right with your #11 Darrel

Learned to put the power on slowly and with feeling, not just blast full throttle now......... By the way, did you want to discuss your Lunatic Move -End of the Pit Straight Hairpin entry, in even more detail........????
Like the Idea of going on the Track, having an overnighter, so what about 1 day Bedford, 1 day stop off at the PCGB HQ - wind them up a bit...... Make a Weekend of it?
