Looking to buy a Cayman

Hi

My hubby has decided to give me a new car for our wedding present and I've decided I'd like a Porsche. I had a quick look when I was away and decided that the carrera isn't for me, its just too big so I'm going to get a Boxter or a Cayman.
There's no Porsche garages near us so I'm trying to find out what I can on the internet, I have gathered that both cars come in two versions, standard and S and that its mainly a bigger engine but what other models are available, is it just the two? I had a look on the porsche website but it wasn't working.

Thanks.

Hi Eve,

Nice choice!

The Cayman only comes in the base and S models. There are a LOT of options available though for both models, and the options are quite expensive. A fully loaded car versus an optionless car is a HUGE difference. So I think most of us would recommend browsing the Porsche page (when its working for you again) and choosing the options that you like best.

Whereabouts in the UK are you? Porsche's dealer network gives reasonable coverage. I mention it because I'd suggest you arrange to go and look/try the cars way before you think about options. You need to start by figuring out if you want a convertible of a coupe, and then if the 160mph offered by the smaller engined car is enough performance.

BTW appearances are deceptive, the Boxter/Cayman are only about 1 1/2 inches shorter than a Carrera and the same width.

Nice wedding present !! As shoestring says you must go to a dealer and try both cars for looks as well as decide if you would like the hood down at some point, both are very nice cars whether 2.7 or 3.4 you will pay about a £5900 premium for the Boxster S as opposed to the Standard Boxster and over 7300 from a Cayman to an CaymanS
Prices in GB
Boxster 33,307.00
Boxster S 39,198.00

Cayman 36,152.00
Cayman S 43,453.00

Did you say that youd tried the Porsche site??? Try this......Home - Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG

Anything else, just ask and we'll try and help !!

All good advice...

You have chosen the right brand now go to the dealership and spend some time looking - they will be very helpful - best to make an appointment.

Again, say where you are in the UK, I'd bet someone here can even give you a contact at a dealership near you.

If you want new you will have to wait six months - if you want nearly new come back for advice.

You have chosen your husband well! Congrats on both the wedding and the present. The decisionmaking will be agonizing at times but I think that it will be rewarding too.

I'm in North yorkshire, not really near any place that is big enough for a Porsche garage, I think kendal is the closest but I think that was a while ago, not sure if they are still open. The carerra just felt like a whole load of car behind me when I had a sit in one (girl thing, big bum I know)

Might get expense looking at the choices hehe
