Mercedes World Brooklands

A quick plug for this place; for those who don't know, Brooklands (near Weybridge) was the world's first purpose built race track, and 2 years ago Mercedes built a sort of uber-dealer/venue/test-track/museum/restaurant there.

I took SS7 jnr last week; any child taller than about 1.4m can drive a car. He's 10 and had a ball steering around cones in an A class. Cost was £30 for half an hour.

Later on, I spent 60 minutes in an insane hotrod (520bhp 6.3l AMG E class) hooning around their 'high speed' circuit (well, 95mph on a twisty kart-track), drifting around the wet circle, and playing with the ABS/ASC, all with a great instructor, and all for £150.

Afterwards we went to the Brookland Museum, 2 mins walk away, and spent several hours wandering around their fascinating collection.

A great way to spend the day (foods good too!)

It's a five minute walk from our house. But we've never been! Will have to check this out on your recommendation!

I'm amazed you haven't already been! We were regular visitors to the museum when we lived in Windsor, there's a huge amount to see for anyone interested in machinery; its friendly and informal, and there's always something interesting to discover in a dusty corner.
