Rusty Wheel Nuts

Has anyone in the UK had the same problem - If so, have these been replaced under warranty?

These are actually bolts and YES the factory ones rust, and likely they won't replace them under warranty unless you have a good relationship with your dealer as Porsche doesn't consider it a defect but rather a wear and tear item, like brake pads.

I would HIGHLY recommend that you check out the bolts from Ralph Boothe at Boothe Designs, Porsche parts and accessories, No-Turn Technology as they are highly polished, look great and don't rust. They are like pieces of fine jewelry, you will love them.

I have a few questions. The bolts from Boothe Design do look amazing but how do they hold up? Since they are chrome plated I am guessing it won't scratch off like paint would. That said, has anyone painted their bolts? Probably would need to be painted often, and the paint might just scratch off every time the bolts are put on and off, but it may be an easy solution for stock bolts. As for the Boothe design bolts, how much does a full set cost? I couldn't figure it out from the site. And finally, what size bolts are needed for wheels with the 5mm spacers? Thanks for any help

I too highly recommend Ralph's bolts. I got a set of black ones for Her987CS and a set of chrome ones for my CS. They really do finish off the wheels appearance.

I bought the Boothe Design bolts last month and the cost was:
Wheel bolt locks = $95.00 per set of 4
Wheel bolts, 30mm = $12.00 each x 16 = $192.00
19mm soft socket = $29.00 each

You need the soft socket to protect the chrome.

It may seem like a lot of money but the quality is superb!!

Yes, any decent OPC will replace them under warranty, but there is little point in doing so as the new ones will rust just as fast.

Buy some plastic bolt head covers, about £20 off eBay, and paint the bolt heads before you fit them. Works perfectly, and looks good too.

PS ... I wouldn't used chromed ones, not in the UK anyway. Stainless steel perhaps, but never chrome.

Don't worry with Wheel Enhancement chrome bolts. Mine rusted and they happily informed me the warranty is only ONE year

I'll go with RB next time.

Mine rusted in the first 3 months, dealer changed them but asked a lot of "do you use an acid wheel cleaner" type questions. They didn't have new lock bolts, so they painted them. 3 months later they changed them again, but said "This is the last time" as if I was a naughty boy. So ultimately I also called Ralph up but went for studs rather than wheel bolts as at trackside it's a pain in the ar$e trying to hold spacers when you put the first bolt in and /or put a wheel hanger in. So now I'm on studs that I use alloy black wheel nuts for road and change them to steel for use on the track. If in the UK they are on my site here:Motordrive Seats Suspension/Engine(including Differential)
