another 2 months what ,7 months to wait sorry but could not stand that so what if you loose money on the thing you wont care once your bhind the wheel its amazing .there are some stock ones around at dealers and i did get 1k off list not 13% iknow but i have it now and i love it
i have read some threads that are saying due to vgood press you may not loose much money say in a years time when you trade it in for an rs cayman cos thats what you will want when it comes out
I bought my wife Mercedes a ML320 though Alliance Car Imports and have had absolutely no problem with servicing or warantee work. The Mercedes dealer never asked if it was imported and evenhonoured the UK 3 year warantee when the car was strictly registered at the time that only 1 year was offered. However, I believe that it is very easy to tell ifa Porsche is imported just by looking at the VIN number, and Porsche dealers and some second-hand purchases may shy away from them.
You know this thing about imports is about dealers scare-mongering because they want you to buy from them and they don't like competition.
In Theory every car we get in this country has been imported from Finland anyway, it just comes through a different official Porsche dealership they're all really imports and if its full UK spec, then in my eyes its a UK car.
There isn't really much difference apart from it was cheaper and the demand for the Cayman is high enough not to worry.
We're part of the EU and you get the same warranty and Porsche by law have to carry out the work.
I don't see a problem, I would say spec the car up with lots of desirable stuff more cheaply and you won't have a problem reselling in the future.
Getting PCCB thrown in is unbelievable.
I wouldn't worry about reselling... I've never had a problem selling an EU sourced car but what I do is make sure that I have all the desirable options which helps.
Having said that I bought my Cayman in December/Jan form a UKOPC and there was no Import market for these cars at that time so I didn't get the chance you have or a discount, welldone!!!

Is that including the VAT you have to pay when you bring the car into the UK. Or are you getting the quote from indie dealer in the UK whose already paid the Vat for you.

I imported a BMW in 2003, and saved about £3-4000 onUKpricesafter VAT and duty etc (because of the decent exchange rate at the time and as it was a high spec - the options were cheaper too) I flew to a dealer in Hamburg and drove it back via the channel tunnel - a great experience. I had no trouble with servicing and/or warranty issues etcwith my local dealer.
The only downside was the fact that European BMWs have a 2 year warranty UK dealer sourced cars add an extra year to that. You will get scare stories about imports but as long as youensure that the car is built to UK specs (standard options etc) there should be no major problems.
Also bear in mind thatwhen you come to sellor part ex the car - the fact that it is not a Porsch UK supplied car wil meanyou will be offered less for it - because they know you paid less for it new.

That includes VAT and registration. Shows how much we get ripped off!
The quote came from E-Class London, who are part of a Dutch Leasing company.
I can forward the quote on if you like. I know nothing about the company, so it is worth checking them out before you proceed. 5 months ain't a bad leadtime either TBH.
As for me; I think I'll stick with my UK order. I;ve already put 3k down, sent my full spec and signed it, and had it confirmed. I also want a factory collection, and it's probably a good thing to build a good relationship with the local dealer.
I have uk dealer supplied Cayman and a BMW import. Imports are fine until you try to sell the car in the uk to a main dealer as they will always offer you less on an import to protect the market. Also the UK BMW dealer Williams Manchester, would not offer extended warranty on my imported BMW so may also be an issue if you want extended Porsche warranty. A third party warranty company will cover it and its the samecompnay that BMW Ukso I will never buy a car from Williams BMW Manchester.
