Hi all, I have a 2005 987 Boxster S so hope ok to post here? my son in law has a Cayman S does that count The question I have is on exhausts and which ones are best. I have seen the youtube clips for Caymans with Capristo exhausts with headers and wireless remotes to operate valves to make quieter for the locals! the other option is a Tubi system. Also full system with headers or cat back system. Implications for emissions testing is a concern also.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks.

The Tubi Exhaust is Insanely Loud on a Cayman S........
The Capristo System is not such a Straightforward Fit........ And is Expensive.
A Compromise - is to fit a Milltek CatBack Exhaust - (without Cats) and keep the standard Porsche Headers with Cats and Sensors - No Problems with fit, function nor emissions........ But the sound is impressive without being overpowering/annoying.

APR may be good (Agreed) - but Shipping, Duties, Customs clearance charges, VAT, Packaging Etc.........
From The US to the UK = Prohibative Costs .........
Milltek = Made in the UK = Better Value for UK users.............
Thanks for replies
Looking at the Milltek systems are they cats just before the final silencers?
on the Tubi site there is a Cayman with a full system and it sounds simply amazing, but downside it is not switchable, that what was leading me towards the Capristo system asuming that it would fit, (am I right in thinking 987 Boxster s Similar to the Cayman underneath?)
Also are there any other worthwhile mods to these cars? mine has the sports chrono, PCM, but does not have PASM, sits on 19' wheels.
I previously had a 993 with sports exhausts and motorsound airbox so like a bit more noise
PASM - Porsche Active Suspension Management
This active damping system offers continuous adjustment of individual damping forces based on current road conditions and driving style.
The driver can choose from two setup modes, ‘Normal’ and ‘Sport’, using a separate ‘damper’ button on the center console. ‘Normal’ mode is designed for general road driving and circuits with uneven tarmac. ‘Sport’ mode is intended for smoother track surfaces, where the harder settings help eliminate pitch and roll.
In either mode, PASM continuously evaluates the current conditions while automatically selecting the corresponding damper rates from the respective set of mapped values.
A range of sensors are used to monitor the movement of the body under acceleration, braking and cornering maneuvers, as well as on poor road surfaces. The PASM control unit then evaluates this data and modifies the damping force on each individual wheel in accordance with the selected mode. The result is a significant reduction in body movement as well as a better grip on the road.
For example: if ‘Sport’ mode is selected, the suspension is automatically set to a harder damper rating. If the quality of the track surface falls below a certain threshold, the system immediately changes to a softer rating within the ‘Sport’ setup range. When the quality of the tarmac improves once more, PASM automatically returns to the original, harder rating.

Sport Chrono and Chrono Plus
This optional package is a valuable addition for trackday use. Available in conjunction with the CDR-24 CD radio, it includes a swivel-mounted analog and digital timer unit which is centrally located on the dashboard. All functions are easily accessible via the control stalk for the on-board computer. Analog dials measure hours, minutes and seconds, while a separate digital field displays whole seconds, tenths and one hundredths of a second. A second digital display runs in parallel in the instrument cluster. Click this Link to visit the FAQ entry for Sport Chrono.

thanks for info, Is is the full system headers etc or a cat back system? have you any idea on db level as I would like to do the odd track day in my car, which was one of the reasons for possibly going the Capristo route.

Tubi, Only make the cat-back i.e. the rear of the system, I tried one, didn't or couldn't cope with the noise (good for doing Saturday night cruises down the high street) but living on a day to day basis...no thanks. Track days could also be a problem as more and more tracks are reducing noise levels (ask Mojo, cause she didn't think she would get below the noise limits at Bedford in April ..also more and more tracks are now operating a one strike and your out policy.) Capristo at >£3000 is very expensive. There are many systems from Fabspeed, AWE etc: ...search through, to get other opinions. Just because both myself and Karel run Milltek shouldn't influence your decision. Neither should the £799 price for the cat-back, on offer as a GB for CaymanClub Members......so maybe yes I'm biased, but as an Englishman I have this strange perversion to by British when I can. Strange as that might sound..!!!

Was the system just too loud all the time? I know the Tubi does sound a little more like a high revving Italian V8! but was it noisy under normal town driving?
