i am a new Porsche Cayman driver and this is my first expensive/sport car and i am getting mixed responses in the traffic from other drivers. just wanted to know if this is common or just a result of my aggresive driving ? or maybe they dont like the way i look !
recent examples:
today, while waiting at red lights, a heard the white van next to me blowing its horn over and over again. i looked around trying to understand why this guy was blowing his horn. he was doing it to take my attention ! as soon as i turned my head, the van driver told me how nice the car was and made lots of hand gestures and kept smiling. nice guy.
last week, was driving in holland park, a merc E320, tried to race me ! he was driving very dangerously so i slowed down and let him pass. he passed but slowed down and waited for me. we stopped at the lights next to each other. he looked at me and gave me a dirty smile ! well that was enough to provoke me. i dont think he would ever race a Porsche again.
again, last week, in North London, an Alfa Romeo kept messing around with me. he kept giving annoying looks, drove very close to me...etc i slowed down, made him come next to me, and then speed up, slowed again, gave him way and then speed up again. i am sorry but such drivers deserve this treatment ! he got so pissed off, wish i had a camera to take his picture !
I am continually being challenged. More so when I had the Borla exhaust on my car. My CS is Guards Red, which probably doesn't help.
I am so often challenged by cars so far below my horsepower grade that I must assume that many of these younger drivers simply want to see my car take off. I bet 75% of the challenges I encounter are by cars that stand no chance.
There have been others that obviously think that they can take the Cayman S. You can tell because because those driver looks so serious, almost angry. In that category, I've been challenged by two obviously modified Nissan 350Zs, two Subaru WRXs and one Cadillac CTS-V. Of all the hype I've read and heard, I expected all of them to do better than they did. Likewise, I think the other drivers also expected a better result. Sorry to ruin your day guys.....
Borla
BORLA PERFORMANCE INDUSTRIES is the leader in the design and manufacture of stainless steel performance exhaust. We began two decades ago as a manufacturer of exhaust systems for such "concours classics" as Rolls-Royce and Ferrari cars and have evolved into the premier manufacturer of today’s performance vehicles for the street, off-road, and racing.
I popped into town on Saturday. As I parked up, two young lads walking past said "cool car Mr!".
Not everyone is a chippy idiot, just let them get on with it.

I had 2 guys in a white van beep the horn, turned to look, and they said "That looks well smart, mate!"
So yes, there are people that appreciate the car. Never had anybody say anything bad to me in the car.
Must be:
1) your face :P
2) your attitude :P
3) you live at the wrong end of the country :P :P What do you expect in London!! (And to think, they want everyone from the North West to move down there!!!! Idiots!!)
Just ignore them. I love winding people up by ignoring a challenge, or paying extra-vigilant attention to the relevent speed limit!! You know, even maybe just a couple of mph under the posted limit :P
the funniest happened yesterday with a audi TT. i was driving calmly, minding my own business, this TT came right next to me and from the left and kept the speed same as mine. i got a bit faster , so did he ! i reduced my speed and let him go , he thought he won the challenge ! i waited for a while and then showed the power of Cayman to TT

I’m getting in to the similar situations, however mostly with minivans and pick up trucks!! Own my CS for may 2 months now and I had more ppl try to race me with in these two months then my over all life time! I just wish ppl knew that most Cayman owners are too busy enjoying themselves then getting into these stupid pointless races.
