The Law now states NOTHING AT ALL is allowed on the front windows or front screen.......but you can do what you want to the rear windows and rear screen.
This changed from allowing some tinting on the fronts about 18 months ago!!

My understanding was that the requirement reads: "The allowable minimum light transmissibility for the windshield glasses and the side front windows of motor vehicles shall not be less than 70%. The light transmissibility of the rear side windows and rear glass shall not be less than 10%. It shall not obstruct any visibility from outside to inside."
ie upto a 30% tint on the fronts and normally 75% (to be safe) on the rears, I will confirm that this is still the case.

I understood that it all changed about 18 months ago, now if plod considers it worth chasing up.......?????? I don't realy know
I do know of a couple of "associates", shall we say, that where, over the top with the tint and got that much hassle with fixed penalty fines and being stopped on an hourly basis that they run NOTHING on the fronts now !!

Just spoke to a friend that has a windscreen company and he confirmed my thoughts.

My experience with tinted windows is that drivers with tinted windows are not aware of what is going on around them and are not that bothered!

I treat them with the caution reserved for Rovers and Vauxhall Novas.

well i have 33% on mine which was legal when i had it done and believe that it complements the rear quarters very nicely, wrt not being aware of what is going on upto 35/40% does not impair vision at all and if anything can help with visibility, especially on a sunny day.

so do I, makes very little difference, helps with headlight glare bit like the standard interior/exterior dimming safety feature we all have!

Again just had it confirmed that there is zero to be applied to front and front side windows......so you'll run the risk if you have an obvious one applied !!
