Going through the same thought process. I'm probably going to go for the full leather and PCM. Have heard the Cayman rides better on the standard 18' wheels but until we get the chance for a test drive who knows.
Will probably make the final decision on options after the UK launch night on Tuesday when I finally get to see the car for real.
Stay with the 18's and pick one of the other two. If you really want 19's you can get them later with a new set of tires or something. The other two you can't add later. The car will be supurb on 18's.
I'd go for the sports seats and full leather - I think they are just about a must. I'd then go for the PCM - its a very nice luxury to have and I think it will be good for resale value in the UK. As Atlas Croc said, the car will handle brilliantly with the standard 18's, and you can add 19's later if you wish. At this time though I would wait to see the cars in the flesh later this week.
I've noticed that everybody is in favor of full leather vs. the standard interior. What are everybody's reasons? I am having a hard time deciding myself and could use all the input I can get. Is it hard to take care of a full leather interior? This would be my daily driver and Iam especially worried about the sun beating down on the leather dash all day.
full leather not on our spec, we spent the money on the 19s & sports chrono pack........each to there own
Sport Chrono and Chrono Plus
This optional package is a valuable addition for trackday use. Available in conjunction with the CDR-24 CD radio, it includes a swivel-mounted analog and digital timer unit which is centrally located on the dashboard. All functions are easily accessible via the control stalk for the on-board computer. Analog dials measure hours, minutes and seconds, while a separate digital field displays whole seconds, tenths and one hundredths of a second. A second digital display runs in parallel in the instrument cluster. Click this Link to visit the FAQ entry for Sport Chrono.
I'd pick the 19' Sport Designs and by an ipaq with TomTom software. No one will really get this apparent benefit difference from sticking with the 18's day to day and the fact they just don't look as cool on the Cayman compared to the 19's is another reason - the arches are just way too big which make the 18's look puny and I've seen them in person now . .. AIMIHO of course!

Ive use TT3 on my IPAQ in the past and it was great. Far better than the Navtec factory sat Nav in Porsches. The OEM looks good but is not worth 1850 quid.
My main problem is spending almost 50k on a car that has no Sat nav when it is the current big thing. also it now plays MP3s which helps

. . . just a lot of cash to tie up in 1 option that you'll never retrieve or could spendon more important optionsor able to move onto your next car. If you do alot of travelling then it may be viable but if you don't then let's face it, the UK is hardly vast islandis it. Big question is will the Porsche set up allow you to install all the speed camera locations? I'm guessing no and therefore of no use to me.
Apparently if you spec BOSE or the extra Porsche sound package the single slot CD unit now plays MP3 cd's so that's 8 albums to a disc and with 2 slots in the glove box not too shabby.

I don't think so - the head unit remains CDR-24 even if you spec BOSE, so there should be no difference to what it can play. I think only PCM supports MP3 playback (at least that's what it says in the brochure).
I SAW HIM IN THE FLESH AND I PREFER THE 19' WHEELS ABOVE THE 18'. FOR ME, THE 18' LOOK A LITTLE BIT CHEAP WHEN YOU SEE THE CAR LIVE; THE SPORT SEATS ARE JUST GREAT. THEY LET YOU FEEL ONE WITH YOUR CAR
THESE ARE THE OPTIONS I'VE ORDERED: * COLOUR: BASALT BLACK, SPORT SEATS, PASM, PARK ASSIST, CHRONO PLUS, 19' CARRERA SPORT WHEELS, BI-XENON LIGHTS, CRUISE CONTROL, AUTOMATIC AIRCO, BOSE AUDIOSYSTEM, PCM, CD-LOADER, SPORTS-STYLE FOOTREST
PASM - Porsche Active Suspension Management
This active damping system offers continuous adjustment of individual damping forces based on current road conditions and driving style.
The driver can choose from two setup modes, ‘Normal’ and ‘Sport’, using a separate ‘damper’ button on the center console. ‘Normal’ mode is designed for general road driving and circuits with uneven tarmac. ‘Sport’ mode is intended for smoother track surfaces, where the harder settings help eliminate pitch and roll.
In either mode, PASM continuously evaluates the current conditions while automatically selecting the corresponding damper rates from the respective set of mapped values.
A range of sensors are used to monitor the movement of the body under acceleration, braking and cornering maneuvers, as well as on poor road surfaces. The PASM control unit then evaluates this data and modifies the damping force on each individual wheel in accordance with the selected mode. The result is a significant reduction in body movement as well as a better grip on the road.
For example: if ‘Sport’ mode is selected, the suspension is automatically set to a harder damper rating. If the quality of the track surface falls below a certain threshold, the system immediately changes to a softer rating within the ‘Sport’ setup range. When the quality of the tarmac improves once more, PASM automatically returns to the original, harder rating.
