Yes, John H, the Porsche warranty in the UK sucks. It's just another way of getting a grand out of us in the 3rd year with the Porsche Extended Warranty.
Not only do the Americans pay around 35% less for their Porsches, they also get a 4-year warranty! In addition, OPC's in America seem relatively happy for you to modify your car within the warranty period whereas British OPC's would simply say 'No' if you took a modified Porsche to them for a repair under warranty.
In many respects it's simply cos we Brits are too soft, and an easy touch. If we were more aggressive consumers, as they are in the USA, we wouldn't get the **** service that we do. We simply put up with too much in this country, and big business is always happy to take advantage.
Sadly the same goes for how we are governed, we get pushed around by a bunch of control freaks.
I refused to pay £396.75 for changing the front pads, plus £370.18 for changing the rear pads at the OPC.
I even refused to pay £266.28 to just BUY the front pads, plus £189.70 to just BUY the rear pads from the OPC (and fit myself).
So I called up Brandywine Porsche (site sponsor) and odered a full ret of pads all around, plus all the replacement brake-wear sensors all around, and had them shipped to my US company office.
Total cost on my Visa bill was £187.43 including shipping. I then got it thrown in with our weekly transatlantic shipment to get them to the UK.
I changed all the pads and sensors myself, and it took 1 hour 15 minutes, and that included cleaning and waxing the inside and outside of the wheels and cleaning the calipers.
I reckon with the right tools and having done it once before, I could change out a full set of pads in under 40 minutes.
Looks like we still live in rip-off Britain after all...................

Jack Wood - Porsche Centre Wilmslow I presume? I plan to replace the brake pads on my car myself so yourinformationis useful. Which wheel wax product did you use?
Roger, I just did a quick job with standard Autogl car wax. Not wheel wax. Just to see how it went.
The brake pad change was a doddle. Even bled the brakes at the same time to check for air bubbles. If you need a hand, give me a shout. And yes it was Wilmslow OPC.
Even if you don't get the pads and sensors from the US, I found the front pads for £99 a set, and the sensors £17.50 each. Still a fraction of the OPC prices.
Thanks....I'm going to get some made (as i know the owner at Questmead who manufacure most competition pads) He says Pagid Blue are the OM material so he can make some at 'handy money' maybe
