Having spent a great evening atStratstones UK launch (Manchester) I got to see my first Cayman without full leather and the biggest disapointment for me was the instrument cowling. Unlike the Boxter where the cowling is in the same soft touch material as the dash in the Cayman it is a hard plastic, with a fairly sharp edge. It looks a little cheap compared to the rest of the dash, which looked fine! I was relieved that I'd gone for full leather. If you haven't confirmed your spec go take a look at a standard interior vs. full leather.
Incidentally I was sat in a Cayman discussing this very fact with a guy sat in the drivers seat, who turned our to be JackWood - a fellow Cayman Clubber!
Yes, a coincidence indeed. And now having seen the high spec that all the launch cars had, I am slightly worried that I haven't put ENOUGH kit on mine. I really should have had PCM (it looks cool and has a load of extra toys to play with) Sports seats and full leather.
Dean - just called my dealer. I've been asking for ages and it popped up on the computer on Friday i.e. 2 weeks before its supposed to be built. I haven't a clue how Porsche allocate dates - the guys in the US seem to have gotten dates well in advance. I just hope I do get it on the 23rd - what a xmas present
He guessed it but wouldn't give a definate date. I doubt I'll know for sure until the car arrives in the UK. I'll call him on the 9th to check that the thing has been built
Justin I have some very important news! Mine was also built on the 17th and have been hassling the dealer every day. it is showing 'In Ebdon' (SP?) which means it is sat in the dock waiting to get on a boat.
It is showing this because the weather in the north sea was too bad last week for the boat to sail.
So, yesterday we find out the boat is now in the UK, but there is 4 times the number of Porsche on their, because as it was stuck in harbour they kept on loading.
Anyway, as of today, my car is showing on the system that it is still in Ebdon, but in fact is being delivered to my dealer tomorrow, for me to pick up Thursday!
Get your dealer to call Porsche and speak to a lady who deals with import/allocation. Sorry can't remember her name. Your car would have been on that same boat, and you need to get them to push it through.
The driving factor my car was that my dealer wanted my car in his figures this month! It is Christmas afterall!
