Hey markwm, are you still thinking about the RS4?

After checking out several posts, it seems you are/were in a quandary similar to me. I know these cars are completely different, but properly optioned, they are priced the same. And, they both would make excellent track cars, which I like to do with my A4. I currently drive a '98 A4 2.8q with a PES supercharger. Since day one I've been thrilled with my car and absolutely love Audi's. When the RS4 was announnced, I knew I was going to get one. Then the Cayman S came out and screwed everything up.

What have you decided on your selection?

Well, atm I've got a Cayman comming March 1st. I was all set on the RS4, i had it all specced up and was about to place a deposit but somehow got interested in the Cayman when all the press reviews started to appear.

The thing that put me off the RS4 was I felt that from some angles it just looked like an ordinary saloon, the fact that it's rather large too. If I'm spending £50k on a car I want it to look like I have. I saw the Cayman as a nice first step onto the Porsche ladder, I don't keep my cars that long either so residuals of Porsche cars are a major factor.

I still might get an RS4, but I'm going to wait until there are in showrooms before I order. Lead times are still no where near as long for the RS4 as they are for the Cayman despite what Clarkson says.

Hi Markwm & armo

I'm in a similar position Cayman Vs RS4. And now I've got another 911 C4s.

I'm sitting here thinking by the time I've spec up both cars (RS4 & Cayman) should I just go for a 2nd hand 911 C4s ??? There all about the same money

I fell in love with the 911 when I went to the 997 launch this year, they had a 996 C4s in the workshop and I was drooling over it.

What do you think I should do!!!!!!! I don't have to spec the Cayman until Jan 1st 2006,

The 996 C4s is a good car, I prefer the C2, the C4 understeers more. Every one should have a 911 at some point in their life. The only negative thing is the rapid dropping prices of the 996 that would put me off, I've lost 10k in 1yr and there's no sign the it's getting any better either.

You could get the Cayman, keep it for 6 months and not loose much on it and then buy a 911 at a much cheaper price in 6 months time
