Lightbulb 2007 improvement?

If you remember at the last meet when we were, ahem inspecting the underside we had thought that I had lost my drivers side gold coloured exhaust heat deflector, anyway had it at the dealers today and he told me that there is only one on the left side.

I said that I had seen two on another Croc and he said that this is a change on the 2007 model and he had looked at a few new Caymans he had in.

Improvement??

Maybe this is part of the RS modification plan? You lucky boy!! Lighter weight, of course.

I can't see why one side would need it and the other not as the headers pass under the same gasket on both sides of the engine. Surely that heat shield is there to protect that.

Lets find some other 07 cars and check them out.

Jack

Sorry Howi, I only took pictures of your “Scratches and Scrapes” on your front end. I didn’t take photo’s of “Your Back End”…….
There is defo 2 heat shields on my 05 car, so maybe 05 had them 06 didn’t and 07 has them again….or maybe, more likely, one just fell off yours and the dealers takin the p@ss

I only know this, cause when I first got the car, we looked at making up an exhaust. When we looked at the manifolds (headers) I noticed that the pipes were “unequal” and a little schoolboy in design. To which “a dealer” said “they have been designed like that to help gas flow……yea right, what a load of bollocks. We all know equal length into a collector is the best way to get more power (look at the milltek manifolds and how much extra power they produce) and that’s when I noticed the heat shields, and thought they were there to ‘disguise’ the crappy manifolds. Or at least to stop you actually seeing that the pipes were ‘unequal’ Mine defiantly has 2, one on each side

BTW Don’t tell the dealer that the car was 4’ off the ground at 90+ mph over the jumps or he might totally void all warranties

Gold standard

For what its worth, I was in my local OPC yesterday and was being shown around the workshop. I checked out a new 2.7 being PDI'd up on ramps and could see just a single gold heat deflector (if that is what it is) on the passenger side. It was located on the pipe between the manifold and cat converter, but there was no obvious reason why there was not one on the drivers side that I could see!
There was also an amazing CS finished in orange special paint with Turbo wheels - if I get back there this week I'll take a few pics
Dave
