clarkson is on the take
i heard from a very good source that jeremy clarkson is on the take. a lot of companies pay him for his opinion. porsche do not....

If you count advertising dollars,the entireautomotive press is 'on the take'. It's increasingly become a fact of life, particularly as cars have generally become much more reliable and performancemargins have narrowed the selling becomes more subjective.

It works both ways. I used to work for a major car manufacturer and all the cars that were given to magazines, etc., to beroad-tested were 'special'. They always had more horsepower than standard and the bodies were hand finished. When they arrived in the UK they were clearly marked 'for road test only'.


It is all a big game to persuade us to part with our money!

Do you really think that Clarkson has hurt the sales of the Cayman at all? I think it worked in reverse as he showed clear signs of joy during and after the his test drive. I am thinking that it surprised him, and as far as his comments that it is not an attractive automobile, who is going to buy that after they have seen it?
