Just wondering if any of the UK posse(like I'm that street ) have taken any steps to improve the power output of the their Caymans yet. The guys from the US seem to be tuning crazy, but it's not the same on this side of the pond.
I'm still thinking of a ECU flash, but am bit loath to spend the best part of grand and not feel any difference in performance. I don't really want to make the car any louder either so am going to stay away from any boyracer exhaust, could install a manifold though, meant to improve power without all the noise.
Got this from Parr, a well respected Porsche tuner in the Uk
Dear Sir,
Apologies for the hotmail account but i am working from home today.
Thank you for your enquiry regarding Cayman tuning. Yes we can offer a map which
Parr have just developed in house on our chassis dyno. You will see power gains
of approximately 10BHP with significant increases in bottom and mid range
torque. We can also offer a high flow filter and complete or just silencer
exhaust upgrade. In addition we have completed a revised geometry package to
give better grip and even tyre wear. Not sure if you have seen outside edge tyre
scrub on your fronts yet? Do you track day the car?
If you are interested please let me have your contact details so we can discuss
further
Best Regards
Lawrence Stockwell
Costs about 700+ vat I think
Not heard very good reports about Super chip either
Just had a look at the Superchips website and found this, 340BHP is the massive anmount to get from just a chip/fash, I've emailed them and asked for some dyno charts to back it, I bet their don't reply.
Hope their do, £293 for all that power is cheap
Porsche Cayman S
2005 onwards
Engine type : Non-Turbo Petrol
Engine size : 3386 cm3
Cylinders : 6
I'm gonna be looking for a switchable type system (for different fuels etc) so either Revo or GIAC looks like the way to go, but i'll look on site first

Where does it say the gains??
All this says is that the original power is 295 and torque is 340. Doesn't say after power.
Before we all go off on our own I know the guy at superchips (he's had our seats) so it might be an idea if we get together and ask for a qty discount ????
the guy who has tuned my vx220 over the past 4 years is a dealer for both giac and awe...i should be getting mine tweeked once i have run the car in! which hopefully will be around march time as my cs arrives at the end of this month
i am in southampton and will be the proud owner of a basalt black cs with pcm/pasm/sports chrono/sports seat/bose and 19s sometime in the next 6-8 weeks!
PASM - Porsche Active Suspension Management
This active damping system offers continuous adjustment of individual damping forces based on current road conditions and driving style.
The driver can choose from two setup modes, ‘Normal’ and ‘Sport’, using a separate ‘damper’ button on the center console. ‘Normal’ mode is designed for general road driving and circuits with uneven tarmac. ‘Sport’ mode is intended for smoother track surfaces, where the harder settings help eliminate pitch and roll.
In either mode, PASM continuously evaluates the current conditions while automatically selecting the corresponding damper rates from the respective set of mapped values.
A range of sensors are used to monitor the movement of the body under acceleration, braking and cornering maneuvers, as well as on poor road surfaces. The PASM control unit then evaluates this data and modifies the damping force on each individual wheel in accordance with the selected mode. The result is a significant reduction in body movement as well as a better grip on the road.
For example: if ‘Sport’ mode is selected, the suspension is automatically set to a harder damper rating. If the quality of the track surface falls below a certain threshold, the system immediately changes to a softer rating within the ‘Sport’ setup range. When the quality of the tarmac improves once more, PASM automatically returns to the original, harder rating.

Sport Chrono and Chrono Plus
This optional package is a valuable addition for trackday use. Available in conjunction with the CDR-24 CD radio, it includes a swivel-mounted analog and digital timer unit which is centrally located on the dashboard. All functions are easily accessible via the control stalk for the on-board computer. Analog dials measure hours, minutes and seconds, while a separate digital field displays whole seconds, tenths and one hundredths of a second. A second digital display runs in parallel in the instrument cluster. Click this Link to visit the FAQ entry for Sport Chrono.

Welcome to the world of Basalt The best colour for the Cayman if you ask me, although I suppose my point of view on the subject could be a little biased
