Left Lane have the spyshots, these are the first REAL proof that the 1 Series IS going Coupe!.......Now seeing how the 6 pot is aleary fitted and we know just how dealy fast the 335 I with the Twin Turbo unit is.......can't be long till we see an "M2".
M3 is out of most pockets and BMW is testing their version of DSG.........Oh My.......Porsche/Audi MUST take notice.
Mike
No link? Shouldn't be called an M1 if it's a 1 series? If this project BMW is currently exploring anything like the Hartge M5 V8 powered 1 series then maybe it's worth looking into. Might be a better buy than a Z4 M Coupe?

Mega: It appears your post may have been garbled in transmission. Or, if you intended "Now seeing how the 6 pot is aleary fitted and we know just how dealy fast..." then I (and perhaps others) need a translation.

BMW AG announced early on in the introduction of the 1-Series that they were also revamping the series numbers a bit, and that the "1-Series" would be 4 doors, and that the "2-Series" would be coupes based upon the same structure....it'll be interesting to see if they follow through with that for non-Ms as well. This was confirmed by a local BMW store...who have "orders" for about a dozen "M2's" for well over a year now. With the 400+hp mega-buck M3 in the wings as their "entry level" M, BMW needs a stepping stone into the brand for younger clientele. And even an old fart like me would prefer a light, agile, modern version of the E30 M3...long overdue.

Agreed completely, if BMW fitted a light, efficient 2.4l 4 cylinder producing 240bhp, gave it decent brakes, non-RF tyres and the 'Clubsport' (fabric manual sports seats, alloy boot/bonnet) version weighed 1250kg, and was available for £29.5k I'd have had one like a shot.
But I don't think that going to happen, it'll probably be a 1450kg 3litre turbo with all the luxury bits, huge wheels and will be driven by every female account director from Basingstoke to Didsbury
