wtf?opc workmanship

i am p****D off today ,took the car into the opc last night for a tyre (slow puncture).i was eternally greatfull for the fact that they could source the tyre and fit it by 5pm the same day ,paid my £335 and left the opc a happy man.just now decided to look at the replacement tyre and they have only gone and left the black tape which sticks the weights onto the alloy in situe and then right next to it put a new weight . it looks dreadfull and i dont know how to remove this black adhesive stuff ?,not only that but i opened the front trunk and S**T they have broken off one of the retaining bungs that keep the jack tray in place ,why why why cant they just have a little pride in what they are doing.

Try Autoglym Tar and Adhesive remover, allow the product to soak on a cool wheel and slowly peel the tape off.

Don't be temped to use anything to scrape it, the finish will mark easily.

As for breakages, get then to replace it all free of charge!

Disgraceful.

First off they should not be putting weights on the outside where you can see them, this should be on the inside rim. Breaking things is unacceptable, but I bet you'll have a job proving they did it. And £335 for a tyre, is it gold plated?

Complain in writing, and put on the bottom "copy to Porsche UK, Reading" even if you don't send a copy there, it works wonders!

the weight is on the inside rim but its not hidden (ie in the same place as before )on my carrera classics ,the old one was sort of hidden by the spoke if you know what i mean ,i keep my wheels immaculate inside and out and it just kills me to see the mess .(i guess i am just paranoid) must get a life .as for the damage ,i will seek repair from the opc when they take my car for the rear hatch fix which they will do when they can find out what is causing it ? they had a cayman stripped out looking for the fault but still could not find it ,the car had been there for over a week.

Sorry, i have an off-topic question. I notice that people from Great Britain refer to Porsche dealerships as "opc". What does that stand for? T.I.A.

OPC = Official Porsche Centre. The dealerships used to operate under their own names "Joe Blogs Porsche" etc, but as part of the re-branding they are now called "Porsche Centre Edinburgh" or wherever. OPC has become a shorthand.

tess i couldnt wait or drive the car any distance for fear of having to use that gunk stuff ,i know i got ripped off but was happy to get a repair the same day .at your prices it seems logical to stock a few just in case.the best price i could find was £285 but i thought the local guy would damage the alloys (ha)as it turned out they would have probably done a better job.ah well you live and learn.

Bolton OPC has the tyre machines in the workshop (you can see them from the service desk, Allan) but the guy who does it comes in X days per week, spending other days at other dealers.

I just had a slow puncture replaced at bolton OPC. A rear 19" Mich PS2 and that was only £265 including fitting, VAT, everything, AND I got the car valeted.

Where did you have it done Raysman?

Jack

bristol, the thing is i recieved great front end service with the service guy and the sales team all falling over themselves to be charming and attentive ,this makes you feel very special and assures you that your going to get the best quality repair ? . i would have thought that there is a permenant on site tyre fitter as there is also bmw ,mini ,on the same site so quite a large franchise, its probably because it was late in the afternoon and the guy wanted to go home so he rushed it .like i said earlier jack i was just so happy to have the repair done the same day.
