Strange occurrence......after refuelling at a particular petrol station
I have noticed that after refuelling at the Sainsbury's petrol station at London Colney (just off M25) that when I start the car the oil level check is displayed but then stays on the screen, even if I have immediately started the engine & not waited for the oil check. If I drive out of the filling station a few yards, then stop and restart the car, eveything is normal.
This has happened 3 times now and only at this location
Has anyone else experienced this, at the same petrol station, or elsewhere ?
Havent spoken to the OPC yet, but wondering if its something like a mobile phone mast causing interference (or something similar) !
Any idea's as to the cause of this would give my mind a rest

does it display low oil level? i think what you will find and i know this will sound bizzare but i bet that the rear wheels of your car are sat in a dip when you fill up ,when you go to re-start the engine management thinks that the oil level is low because the back end of the car has been sat lower than the front . i know you might think this is mad but i also have the same thing with the local shell station.
now using tesco 99ron,cheaper than shell and cant tell the difference.by the way the instructors at millbrook said the car works fine on any fuel grade as the engine management sorts it out.
Mines done it a couple of times in the last month or so - nothing prior to that.
I always try to run on 97 or above fuel, habit perhaps after owning turbo cars for a few years that really do require the higher octance when they are tuned.

No, oil level is full. There isn't a dip, but there is a slight upward slope, however when I park at home the car is on a slight upward slope (so back lower than front) and this doesnt happen
I'll keep an eye on it, and others have experienced same so sounds like a quirk
not to get worried about !
Super unl only of course, seems to run best on Tesco 99 !
A good friend of mine works in the petroleum retail industry. He's got some horror stories about supermarket petrol - basically the quality can be variable - the same applies to low volume independents.
FWIW I buy Shell Optimax (or whatever they call the 99 octane version), he'll buy from any major brand in a busy site.
BTW The local BP outlet has 102 octane for sale on the forecourt. It *only* costs £2.45/litre.....

thats it,its the slope ,coupled with the fact that the oil hasnt run back into the sump because you have only been stopped a few minutes ,i bet when you park at home the car is left for a lot longer than when you re-fuel so it has time to filter back into the sump so no low oil warning.

bp 102 ,its a shame the car cannot use anything more than about 98 without a re- tune .(i have been wrong previously so dont quote me on this)

Thanks, that makes sense, and you're right when parked at home its normally a few hours if not overnight before I restart the car !!
Yes this has happened to me at diffferent petrol stations , but only after refuelling - about 5 times now in only 9 weeks ! ( it has not happened after a non refuel short stop ). Has anyone asked the dealer on this !!
