Track Day Instruction

So there are a few Cayman owners doing the 31st March Bedford day.

Would any of you be interested in taking some instruction on the day? I am not talking about the usual (usually ****) circuit tuition that goes along the lines of "accelerate, brake, turn left now, accelerate, brake, turn right now, ok, come into the pits, bye" - slam door, walk off.............

I'm talking professional driver, willing to analyze driving style and taylor tuition accordingly. Someone who is encouraging, skilled and dedicated, and good fun to boot.

If there were a few people who would be willing to share an instructor over the day it could be very worth while for everyone. Good instruction is like free bhp and often worth more than a couple of seconds a lap.

Let me know if you are interested and I'll see who I can arrange. Or do you all know it all already

Jack

Jack, Contrary to your previous post I have booked an instructor at the track, as I have never been to Bedford before. If your man is going then I'm Happy to throw in to costs, as I agree it’s pointless doing 200 mph in the wrong direction (as long as he’s got a peltor headset in his helmet (otherwise I wont hear him !!!)

I'd be happy to partake of some instruction on the day, provided cost was not too high (although I don't rightly know what "too high" actually is!)

Allan, the instructor you get at the track is JUST a track instructor. He points out turn in points, braking boards, and gear selection. He will not comment on your driving. He is not there to teach you anything other than that track.
The type of instructor I'm talking about would be there to help show you how to get the best out of your car, how to tune your driving skills to achieve either a) the fastest time or b) how to have the most fun, in control.

Chris, I'll have a look into the cost. I will try and get an idea this week and let you all know.

Glad to know it's not just me that thinks going fast is about more than just horsepower................

You might try

Mike is renowned for his Porsche driving instruction and does a lot of trackdays. I would be interested in some time with him. Probably not cheap, though!
