....picked up my Cayman S last Thursday and spent the last few days up in Scotland and the Lake District running it in.
Spec:
Speed Yellow
Sand Grey Full Leather PASM Sports Chrono
Sport Design alloys
Sports Steering Wheel
Rain sensor/dipping mirrors
Chrome Exhaust
Xenons
Park Assist
Sports shift
Climate
Illuminated S/Steel Door sills
I love everything about it. the whole thing is so well put together - my other car is a Lexus, and it's better than this - and although I haven't yet really
blasted it, it has so much instant power on tap and just keeps on gripping forever.
Of the options, I am glad I got them all, although I haven't really tried the Sports setting yet. The rain-sensing wipers are great and a steal at the price with the dippers. Only the Sport Designs alloys work for me on the Cayman and set the car off brilliantly. In fact they look OK and mean when dirty, as does the whole car in the Speed Yellow. The Xenons aren't as good as my Lexus though, especially on full beam.
I'll upload some pictures soon.....
PASM - Porsche Active Suspension Management
This active damping system offers continuous adjustment of individual damping forces based on current road conditions and driving style.
The driver can choose from two setup modes, ‘Normal’ and ‘Sport’, using a separate ‘damper’ button on the center console. ‘Normal’ mode is designed for general road driving and circuits with uneven tarmac. ‘Sport’ mode is intended for smoother track surfaces, where the harder settings help eliminate pitch and roll.
In either mode, PASM continuously evaluates the current conditions while automatically selecting the corresponding damper rates from the respective set of mapped values.
A range of sensors are used to monitor the movement of the body under acceleration, braking and cornering maneuvers, as well as on poor road surfaces. The PASM control unit then evaluates this data and modifies the damping force on each individual wheel in accordance with the selected mode. The result is a significant reduction in body movement as well as a better grip on the road.
For example: if ‘Sport’ mode is selected, the suspension is automatically set to a harder damper rating. If the quality of the track surface falls below a certain threshold, the system immediately changes to a softer rating within the ‘Sport’ setup range. When the quality of the tarmac improves once more, PASM automatically returns to the original, harder rating.

Sport Chrono and Chrono Plus
This optional package is a valuable addition for trackday use. Available in conjunction with the CDR-24 CD radio, it includes a swivel-mounted analog and digital timer unit which is centrally located on the dashboard. All functions are easily accessible via the control stalk for the on-board computer. Analog dials measure hours, minutes and seconds, while a separate digital field displays whole seconds, tenths and one hundredths of a second. A second digital display runs in parallel in the instrument cluster. Click this Link to visit the FAQ entry for Sport Chrono.
No discount offered or requested, as I live in the Isle of Man where the number plate system is different and it really doesn't matter.
Scotland sure is a good place to go - the roads are relatively empty although there are still cameras all over the place. The scenery is nothing less than stunning in the more remote parts.
I will be out in the IOM tomorrow, where there are no cameras or speed limits outside of the main towns, but the roads may test the suspension somewhat.
Got the sills on camera, but they turn out a touch blurred as I had the flash turned off to show the illumination - but I think you will get the idea.
On reflection these are an extravagance....they took about 4 hours for the dealership to fit as the door panels have to come off to fit the wiring loom and I probably wouldn't have bothered if I had known this.

They look great and are definitely worth the 4 hours. You will be convinced the next time you get out of the car at night
