The Cayman S "Competition" IPD Plenum & 82mm TB

Greetings Again Cayman Clubbers,

If you are looking for the ultimate Cayman S Intake Plenum and Throttle Body package available anywhere then you may be interested in the latest development from IPD and RSS. This brand new system is for you Caymanites who are looking for even more power across the entire curve than already provided by the standard IPD plenum. This system was developed and tested this week and will soon be ready for purchase. Remember, these gains are without ANY software mods. I’m sure with software the intake will be optimized and additional gains will be even further realized. The new IPD / RSS intake system utilizes a modified version of our existing Cayman S plenum which is machined and port matched to a genuine 997 GT3 factory Throttle body, which is a true 82mm. This “Competition Cayman Package” will be available in June along with specifically tuned software currently under development. Please stay tuned for more details on pricing and availability. Sorry for not hyping this new and improve IPD / RSS intake system, but we’ve been way too busy developing and selling product. I hope you all enjoy and appreciate the dyno graphs below.

here we go, I am sure this thread will make for an entertaining read...

Was the car otherwise stock when you ran the dyno?

hi greg, the GT3 throttle body is a monster for sure The funny one is the tiny 996TT stocker but that's another story.

Looking forward to trying this out on our Cayman S as well. Looks very promising

Hey There Schwabe,

The car was "bone stock" during the first initial (Blue) run. We did a series of pulls all of which were within 1 hp of each other. We then chose the run that best reflected the average of the multiple runs.

When the car came back to the dyno yesterday (April 10th) is was equipped with 3 additional modifications: The standard IPD intake plenum (utilizing the factory 74mm throttle body), Borla Cat-Back exhaut and an Under Drive Pulley. This was the Red run that yielded 289.94 hp.

The standard IPD plenum and factory throttle body were then replaced with the new IPD "Competition" Cayman S (Boxster S as well) Plenum AND a Porsche factory 997 GT3/RS 82mm Throttle Body. The new IPD plenum was then machined and port matched to accept the larger 82mm TB.

Each of the 3 different runs (Blue, Red and Green) reflected on the graph were all averages of multiple runs, not the highest results versus the lowest results.

Thanks for all the interest and consideration,
Greg @ RSS

So to clarify, the last run (green) was in fact with the Borla catback and UD pulley?

Yes, that is correct Suneet.

The Borla Cat-back exhaust and UD Pulley remained on the car for the final run. The only difference was changing out the IPD plenums and throttle bodies.

Thanks for the question,
Greg

LOL,...Shouldn't this type of 'compensation' discussion be better carried out behind the closed doors of dark smoky rooms, where the head guy is called either 'Godfather' or 'Mr. Chairman'?
