I wanted to get this out to everyone. I am putting a group purchase together for Cayman S 6-speed LSD units, made by Guard.
These are the highest quality Differentials and will definantly be the way to go for the racers out there.
I need to get as many people together here as possible, to be able to guarantee this price.
These will be adjustable ramping either 40/60 or 50/80 and will be made with the highest quality materials.
Pricing to forum members is going to be $2,395.00 plus shipping.
Get in line now please - I would like to be able to put in an order of 20 but I think that if I get 10 people to commit we will be in business.
Warmest Regards to all.

LSD - Limited Slip Differential
A limited slip differential (LSD) is a modified or derived type of differential gear arrangement that allows for some difference in rotational velocity of the output shafts, but does not allow the difference in speed to increase beyond a preset amount. In an automobile, such limited slip differentials are sometimes used in place of a standard differential, where they convey certain dynamic advantages, at the expense of greater complexity.
The main advantage of a limited slip differential is found by considering the case of a standard (or "open") differential where one wheel has no contact with the ground at all. In such a case, the contacting wheel will remain stationary, and the non-contacting wheel will rotate freely– the torque transmitted will be equal at both wheels, but will not exceed the threshold of torque needed to move the vehicle, thus the vehicle will remain stationary. In everyday use on typical roads, such a situation is very unlikely, and so a normal differential suffices. For more demanding use however, such as driving off-road, or for high performance vehicles, such a state of affairs is undesirable, and the LSD can be employed to deal with it. By limiting the velocity difference between a pair of driven wheels, useful torque can be transmitted as long as there is some friction available on at least one of the wheels.

We already have 10 people for tiptronic LSD, why doesn't Guard do one for us?

To install these do we need to drop our transmission, and get our suspension tuned? ALA this post? (sorry to bring this up)
When I emailed Guard, they said that they have TBD coming out too.. will this GB include those?

This post was originally posted as a GB, it no longer is. As my sponsorship of this site does not allow me to post Group Buys. Cost is still the same however. As to the TBD - yes they are also going to be available in the very near future. I will have to check on a price for you all. I will keep you all posted.

For the reasons given to you via private e-mail:
1) Requests for the Tip total 2 (not ten that I'm aware of) ... therefore these must be considered "special order".
2) Special orders require a deposit.
2) Guard will only have special orders made as per supplied sample. We've learned the hard way not to trust the Porsche Pet.
Eric, you're getting ahead of yourself. You should discuss things with Mike.

Well, here's the list of those interested in tip version LSD. As you can see there are at least ten, since I am willing to buy five.

I want to apologize for my premature posting regarding the pricing and availablility of the Guard Limited Slip Differential. As some of you know after speaking with me on the phone, I really love my job. I find it really fun and rewarding. I also sometimes get ahead of myself due in part to my own passion for Porsche cars, as well as my nature to try to help fellow Porsche owners in any way I can.
The Cayman S differential will be available, I am told very soon. Pricing has not as of yet been set. I have sent you a email 'Geary' of apology, I hope that you will accept it. I also spoke with Mike as you asked me to. I look forward to hearing back from you.
Sorry again everyone -
Warmest Regards,
Erik Johnson
