997 GT2 Sport Bucket Seat feeler

Hey guys,

We are starting to receive information from Porsche about the new GT2 Sport Buckets.

As you all probably know by now, these are the seats that can currently only be optioned in a new car. They are foldable bucket seats, with Carbon Fiber backs, and thorax airbags. Fitment will include all 986's, 987's, 996's, and 997's.

Now the part everyone wants to hear. For now, we're estimating pricing for a pair of black leather seats will be below $9k, which places them right in between the 996 and 997 GT3 seats we already sell. We have not talked to Porsche about Alcantara, or any colors other than black. In a few weeks they are going to start hitting our shores and I will be able to get a more solid price for you guys.

We have set ourselves up to receive the first batch that come into the states, so if you're interested in a set, PM me your name and email address. When they start to come in I will let everyone on the list know via email, and give them first crack at the seats.

Thanks guys!

$9,000? Just to confirm that isn't a typo. That is a big step up from the 996 GT3 seats. As much as I like them, personally, I don't see spending ~1/6 the value of my car for a new set of seats.

Nope, not a typo. The price is a step up from the 996 seats, but keep in mind, it is also a step down from the $11k 997 GT3 seats which don't have carbon fiber, airbags, or the ability to fold forward.

Yes that is the whole reason for these seats, work with the harness AND still have the airbags oh and weigh a lot less.

Can I get them with yellow stitching and yellow painted inserts and backs?

Will you take my 996 GT3 seats as trade-in towards the purchase?

You do know the "option" price on a new car is $3K right? So Porsche is tripling the cost for buying after the fact... ouch...

You are wrong. The 997 GT3 seat shells are made out of carbon fibre.

$9K is breathtaking. Hats off to Porsche, but it's not for me. I'd get a spec Miata or remodel a bathroom for that.

+1 to that.

Do you have any pictures of them folded? From the pictures I don't see how they fold.

By folding do you mean they only fold forward or are the seatbacks adjustable backward also?

I'll give ya $treefiddy for 'em.

And yes, it's a $3k option, but you have to remember to subtract how much of the car's cost is in the stock seats. There is still a heavy markup in the retrofits, though.

Doh! You think I'd not make that mistake after selling, packing, and shipping as many as I have....sorry!

They only fold forward, they do not recline.

What about the speed yellow stitching and the insert pieces (where the belts go) painted speed yellow?

I highly doubt we're going to be able to request those kinds of options for these seats. A custom upholsterer is definitely the way to go here.
