I have just read the whole post so i think i get it now if someone could please let me know that i have taken over a spot and am now in the Q that would be great. Also when might these covers start going out.
thank you.
To take over someone's spot you need to pay them whatever their deposit was, so you need to individually arrange with someone like Sapple89 to take over his spot. I would suggest emailing him or sending him a PM asking him what he will accept as payment, check, PayPal, etc. then pay him and he will notify Tess Tickle that you now have his spot and then Tess will send you the info you need to complete payment for the cover once they are ready.
Porsches4ed, Is that your car with the entire manifolds painted red. If so, can you share the details on the paint and procedure used? I really like that look. Thanks
I have now been running the 4mm polycarbonate cover for a few days.
My comments are:
1. No more heat is transmitted to the cockpit than standard
2. Noise below 5000 revs is perfectly acceptable (my wife didn't even notice the difference.)
3. Over 5000 rpm, yes it is slightly noisier, but again I find it perfectly accceptable, and for sure if you're wearing helmet then it wouldn't bother you.
4. The standard carpet/padded cover still fits should you wish to use it.
So, in summary in my opinion, I will run it on a daily basis without any further cover.
We have the polycarbonate expert over from Germany tomorrow and Friday, and will put the question to him "Will it make a significant difference for noise, if we manufacture from 5mm polycarbonate as opposed to 4mm polycarbonate, as used in the test piece.
I have used the original Porsche gasket/seal on the test piece which has a cost of £27.98 not quoted for in the original price. I can get an alternative but think the original seal is the way to go.
Your comments would be appreciated.
In my opinion we are now ready to go into production !!!
Photo of temperature after driving "hard" for 20 mins and then car left to "Heat soak" a further 20 mins. Temperature taken over the hottest reading we could find .....over the oil/air/water cooler on top of the gearbox. (For your Reference 39.1 degree Celsius = 102.38 degree Fahrenheit)
Overall look of Test Cover.....Not perfect in the moulding, but that was not what we were trying to achieve here....It will be spot on when we go into production
Is Everybody happy to have either the CaymanClub Logo or CaymanClub.net on the rear edge of the cover????
