We were going to buy a new deck furntiture set recently but we went back to the store and it was gone so we are back to square one. Looking primarily for a table and chair set but would entertain optional pieces that are part of a package deal. Qualities we are looking for include:
1) Doesn't rust
2) Weathers well
3) Won't blow around in high winds (our current aluminum stuff flys everywhere)
4) No glass tables
5) Swivel or rocking chairs a plus but not mandatory
6) Will work with a large (11-12') umbrella
7) Doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
I'm sure frausmiley will chime in if there are other criteria. I just thought maybe others here would have a recommendation on deck furniture.
We got some really nice teak deck furniture from beleive it or not, Land's End a couple of years ago, and at a great price point too and there was a very minimal shipping charge. They also have a wide array of cushions............
We received a catalog recently with the same stuff, so I'm sure they are still carrying it - can probably find it on line.

We had similar requirements. We went with teak. Doesn't rust, weathers well (two choices - clean/bleach and oil every year, or let it weather to a nice grey patina), heavy enough to not blow around in a gale Went to a place called The Wooden Duck in Berkeley, CA (www.thewoodenduck.com), and the whole set was <$750 at their summer sale a couple of years ago (picked up, not delivered). I think they ship.
We also have Brown Jordan. We got swivel arm chairs for all seats at the 81 in oval table (sorry, glass top: the only part my wife hates). Very nice furniture, but does not meet your last item, number 7. It pretty much does cost an arm and a leg. We recently wanted to replace the cushions with new BJ ones. Expensive. Went with Target cushions instead. (maybe I'm just a little cheap) Same when looking to add some Chaise lounges. Couldn't stomach the 2K each or more depending on cushions and material choice. Still, I do recommend it. It will NOT blow away and when you use it, you have the same feeling of self respect that you get when sitting in your Cayman!
I agree with the guys who have suggested teak. This industry is notorously high margin. You may want to consider finding a wood worker who will build a set to your specifications. Near my sister in Atlanta, there was a guy who sold beautiful custom Adirondak chairs for less than $90/pc. (from the roadside!) that would last a life time. There are other resistant woods beside teak too. Have a look at some of them. Willow and cypress spring to mind and provide a much more interesting look than teak.
Good luck. I do not envy you this task as the prices make your head spin.

I bought a table, 4 chairs, loveseat, and tea cart from this collection almost ten years ago. It is as perfect as the day we received it. After two moves and sitting outside in the elements the whole time. Comfortable WITHOUT cushions by design. (I can't stand cushions that need to be stored and fade/mildew/etc.)
