Just saw the superbowl R8 commercial, what'd you think?
Just saw it and I was on my laptop at the same time so what the heck, what'd you think? I thought it was pretty sweet, but I could've done without the first part when the guy wakes up in his bed. What was the reasoning behind that anyways? Still it sounded/ looked pretty sweet and the fact that we're now advertising "supercars" on T.V is kinda cool
Oh yeah and feel free to comment on any other commercials that were memorable to you as the game progresses...

It's a scene directly out of the Godfather. Don Corleone 'convinces' a producer to make a movie with his godson by chopping off the head of his favorite race horse and putting in his bed.
The message from Audi is - yesterday's thoroughbred is dead.

... it took till after Michael was in the service before he became involved.
True, but the essence, the very soul of that ad was the first 5 - 10 seconds. The rest was not important. They could have just shown the car for a brief second.
If you don't get the first 5 seconds, it won't mean a thing.

Ahhhhh, Ohhhhh. I get it now . Yeah, I havn't seen any of the Godfather movies yet . Now it makes sense. Thanks for the explanation
I wish they had shown the car more. It looks nice. Only making 700 of em though.
Not sure where you're getting that number from. US Audi dealers got about 200 of them in calendar year 2007 and expects almost twice that this year. There have been no caps on production quoted, in fact a V10 version has already been announced to join the V8 one currently out.

My wife is a huge Godfather fan. She has watched all of the episodes numerous times. She is not a big car fan. But she knew exactly what was happening and the reference it was making.
