I was driving back to the office after a meeting and noticed a special looking Audi but couldn't make out what it was. I was so curious that I turned around and went back to have a closer look. It was an S5 and it looked very nice; much better than the BMW 3 series coupe IMO. Judging by the dealer name on the number plate holder, it looks like its a European, probably German, import. Didn't get a chance to see the interior but I expect it to be the usual Audi bullet proof interior.
I agree it looks good. Coming from an S4 I was tempted to wait and see it before buying my CS, but decided I had to go Porsche. Btw, do a google and check out the possible S7 pics. I think right now they are all just photoshop renderings (look like the S5 with four doors) but if the pics are close to the final then the S7 looks way better then the upcoming Panamera. Here it is Audi S7 Renderer
I've seen one on the streets of Manhattan. Looked good, however it gave me that Infinity coupe feel. None the less, I'm sure it's a great car, given Audi's reputation.
I tried to buy one. The demos at 5 different dealerships and they wouldn't sell it for less then sticker, $58,000 even with several 1,000 miles on it. I have to say it is awesome. The one I test drove was meteor grey and red interior. All options. Has 2 real rear seats that would fit adults. The 4.2 FSi V8 sounds unbelievable. Really wanted that car but they wouldn't take a trade and wanted full sticker, just can't do that. however you can feel the weight when you through it around.

... and I did it again Wifey traded her Boxster for a 2008 RS60 Spyder.
Having driven one it is high on my list for replacement of my Avant. Not Cayman performance but pretty impressive. Interior of the one I drove was very special. And a snowmobile too.
I was lucky enough to drive one at an Audi driving event at Homestead Motor Speedway a few months ago. We did a follow the leader session on the track, and I was able to get it up to 110 mph. I thought the interior was beautiful, but I find the exterior boring. Also after driving my Cayman I felt the steering was numb, and I didn't care for the shifter feel. I'd go with a M3 instead.
My test drive was not complimentary. The manual S5 is a clunker. Heavy clutch and sluggish shifter. I walked next door and test drove the CS...bought it outright. Just my personal opinion.
Sure, not a competitor to the Cayman by a long shot but as a touring car and in an auto it is pretty neat. Still if they return with the S4 Avant (which is about four inches longer than the current model and with similar styling to the S5) well it will be an interesting decision for the daily driver/snow machine while the CS is for my special summer/spring occasions.
