A $45,000 toyota sienna is not an indulgence, but a $45,000 Porsche is. I don't know why.
Agreed, but we all do know why: Most people don't really know the prices of either [any] car.
They don't know the Toyota Sienna or Ford Expedition or Chevy Avalanche can run close to $50k (OK the Sienna maxes out at about $43k). Nor do they know that you can get a base Cayman or Boxster for around $50k... or under if you get a good deal. Folks associate Porsche with "expensive/exclusive" and Toyota, Ford, Chevy, etc. with "less expensive/run-of-the-mill". Neither is completely accurate, but it's the perception.

Reason: I did something strange to the quote, and had to fix it...
Yea, there's some of that - and some unsaid that may be worse, but I'm good with it. I tell em I've worked my *** off for a long time and deserve it !!
I don't care what people think or say either. I wanted it, I can afford it (just about) and there's many more expensive and flashy cars around than my CS if I wanted to make a statement.
You only live once and for one I do not want my last words to be, "if only".
Life is for living. Have a blast.

To the price perception point made earlier. You are absolutely correct. My GMC Yukon lease is only $60 per month less than my CS??? Higher residuals, make the CS a strong lease value.

Like most of us you have worked hard to be at a place in your life to have such a fine car. Enjoy the positive replies and mark the negative ones to the individual’s ignorance. Nothing makes my day more than when I get to drive my little lady. Just drive the car and forget the rest of the freaks that don’t get it.
I'm right there with you. I work in retail construction, and had many 80-100 hour weeks that made me reconsider how I'd like to spend my few, precious hours away from work.
Work's actually taking from PA to CA now, and you know what.... I'm driving all the way!!!

I'm sure the Porsche is going to be a lot more noticeable than the BMW though. Should be interesting.
1. Now parking in a special place Yes
2. Have Porsche cups, hats, calendars all over your workplace No
3. Drive through the parking lot in a gear designed to raise the volume of the engine Yes
4. Mention your new purchase a few times a day No
5. Altered your driving style to a more aggressive one Probably, like to think not but it's too obvious
6. Are constantly looking to see who is checking you out when you drive? I'm afraid so, but I really don't want to
I've always been crazy about cars and owned my share of flashy ones so people don't bother to ask. They do think I'm crazy for spending money on cars (in reality it costs me the same or less then what they spend on their SUV etc.) The ones that do ask me a stupid question will often get "it's none of your business" reply. I didn't steel the car so much more beyond that shouldn't matter. My 2.7 is the metallic brown variety so it doesn't draw quite the same attention as brighter colors.
I think that when guys look at it they are confused why I would spend so much money on what they perceive as a toy. I disagree that it's a toy and I actually drive it like the car it is. The funny thing is when they see me loading the car after a visit to the supermarket. They all of a sudden have an epiphany that you can actually use the car for getting groceries and other things. It's almost like they want to say: "I wish I thought of that, somehow I felt you must drive a Yukon to accomplish that".
Guilty for the same reasons!
Have you ever seen the look in as small Childs eye when you drive by them? That look of "WOW" did you see that car. They get the reason we drive cars like this. So let the kid in all of us live with these kinds looks and comments.

Some of us are still that child inside. Some adults get that look in their eyes too. Sometimes when I see that sparkle in their eye, I'll give them a rev of the engine. Once I even got a standing ovation

I too don't care what people say, I got the car because I drove everything and it came down to an 07 Z06 or the Cayman S. Over a month long deliberation I chose the Cayman S. Best handling car that I can beat the hell out of through the canyons. However, my friends always make fun of me calling it a Gayman and to save my money and buy a real car!!!!!! LOL what ever, I love it and I always have a blast driving it!
2) The secretaries were joking about the staff 'needing to compensate for something' after we went through a lot of people buying nice cars (Z06, S8, Cayman, etc).
A female friend of a female friend of mine point blank asked me ,"Do you have a small XXXX?" in an attempt to embarrass me.
I replied, "We all seem small compared to your gaping, stretched-out XXXX."
True story.
I suggest that you tell them that you are compensating for the cavernous maws worn-out women over 20 are sporting these days. Sport seats fit like a glove, unlike the trashy women around this place.
I am sure HR will appreciate this. LOL.

I'm much less concerned about odd looks and pointed comments/questions than I am the parking lot vandal.
When "forced" I typically explain I bought it used and they are not as expensive as they think, cars are my 1 hobby-type indulgence (over boats, expensive vacations, cycles, etc...) and I'm billing a ton of hours so this was my motivational tool.
The fact that this is much cheaper and safer than full-time semi-professional motorcycle racing (as in factory and semi-factory guys make money, the rest of us spend money) usually satisfies any follow-up query.
