+1
what i drive is my business, doesn't mean i am inclined to buy you dinner or complain about gas prices.
i'll not give up my rights to complain! sheesh. especially about gas prices, although i am a bit careful about who i complain to...

No negative comments yet, only positive ones.

Everyone that knows me knows I've been wanting a Porsche for a LONG time, so it is no surprise now that I have one.

Of course do I care what everyone else thinks? Nope.

I get a mixed bag of reactions. So far I've had quite a few strangers compliment me on the car. It's always very nice and refreshing to see that there are still good car people around.

Most people don't realize that it's just a car. The stereotypes are very hard to overcome. My friends and family didn't flinch when I bought it and were very supportive and complimentary. Though, I've noticed at the workplace an increased sense of resentment among co-workers. I can definitely look at prior to buying the CS and now and notice a big difference in how I'm treated at work. It's unfortunate. I like the vast majority of my co-workers and it's unfortunate that some of them treat me noticeably different.

I agree with that wholeheartedly. I am a first-time Porsche owner and have calmed down on the "looking around" since I bought it back in April. It's a little hard to contain my enthusiasm as I've realized a childhood dream (I'm a car nut, like most here) and have worked very, very hard to get where I am. So, while I agree with looking for reactions is juvenile, I can understand it, and I think for most people, it wears off after a few weeks/months.

Simply being observant of reactions, however, is fine. I don't think the typical Porsche owner who has a good head on their shoulders goes out of his/her way to look for reactions. However, it's fairly impossible for any observant person to not notice reactions to their ride, or how they're treated/perceived. It comes with the territory of owning a car from one of the greatest automobile manufacturers on the planet. I guess it comes down to, how will you handle it?

Cheers,
-steve
