I had the "opportunity" to drive a 2008 4 door sedan today. No need to discuss the car maker nor model. It is what it is. Individual models are targeted at certain demographics. To each their own. But the electronics were something else.
I just don't get it.

My opinions only ...
First, keyless? What's with that? Taking away the key removes intimacy with the vehicle. By using a key and turning it, you can feel the battery, how much juice, etc. By being keyless and quiet ... blah. Removed from intimacy. (no jokes here

). Not only that, where do you put the keychain? You got to take it out to open the door but then what? At least in the ignition, you know where your keys are.
Second, an electronic digital gas mileage thingy. It moved up and down tell you the gas mileage. Well duh! You don't know when your foots off the gas mileage is good and when you accelerate its poor? I found it very distracting always moving up and down, catching it out of the corner of your eye. It's like the early 1980s when digital graphic equalizers came in vogue to see the frequency strength. A gimmick that went away. Now maybe you could turn it off but I found it very annoying. I just can't imagine having that thing in front of your eyes every day.
Third, the notice when you locked the car, the horn sounded ... loud. Huh? So if I come home late at night I want the horn to sound to wake all the neighbors telling them I locked my car? What's with that? Duh.
Now one thing I found was the old fashioned E-brake pedal on the floor. What is this 1965? I felt like I was driving an old car. Worse than that, it was stuck where the dead pedal should be. Strange.
However, now I understand why people want their iPod aux-in, which this car had. If a car is quiet, like this, the driver can probably be bored out their mind not hearing anything.
