I can't read it, Mommy.

If an outbreak of Kindergarten "blindness" hits your area...

Make sure you child's GP isn't a Doctor of Clownology.

At my 5 year-old daughter's 225 point service inspection...er....5 year well check...she was given a vision test which showed that she had a significant vision problem and we were referred to an opto-doc.

I was surprised as no one in the immediate family has ever needed glasses.

So my wife takes darling Annalise to see the Eye Doctor. This time, my wife is in the room when the test is given. Everything is going along fine until the doc says, "OK. Now read line five for me honey"

My daughter is silent. My wife's heart sinks.

My wife asks, "Are the lines numbered?"

The doc says, "Yes. Honey, read what is next to number 5."

My daughter: "I can't read it Mommy."

My wife: "Can you see the number 5?"

Daughter: "Yes"

Wife: "Can you see the letters?"

Daughter "Yes"

Wife "Can you read the letters?"

Daughter "Yes, but I don't know the words."

Perfect vision. It was obviously a miracle, or the idiot GP didn't catch that she was trying to read the "words". LOL.

Reminds me of an old Dennis the Menace comic from 40 (+/-) years ago where he's at the eye doctor with his mom and the caption reads " straight letter, wiggly letter, round letter, squiggly letter..."

Obviously pre alphabet....
