Interesting, the Cayenne has been a success?

I have to admit, I would have thought the Cayenne would be a loser for Porsche, but the last earnings report paints a different picture:

Porsche Sales Rise 0.7 - Earnings

Sports car sales down, Cayenne sales up significantly for an overall slight increase in sales.

Hmmm.

I appreciate that Porsche is making money and isn't likely to be bought by Ford or GM or even VW/Audi as I feared in the early 90s. I'm just sorry it took an SUV. Highly competent, but an SUV nonetheless.

In my book, when it comes to Porsche sports cars, the ends justify the means!

I hope they sell a boatload of Panameras too. More cash with which to advance the 911/Boxster/Cayman. With any luck, VW will begin to set some new sales records. Long live Porsche!
