Sorry to the moderators for another watch thread but this one is rather newsworthy to anyone who looking at or buying a current Rolex.
Rolex is making major changes to the Submariner and Presidential day/date line. The Sub will have the same Ceramic bezel with the larger numbers as the new version of the GMT master II. The Sub will also be released in an all white gold version with a blue face. No all stainless version with a blue face which is something that I would buy in a second. The stainless Sub will be hard to get initially and will command the usual 1000-1500 over list as with the Green aniversary model and the new ss GMT until the initial rush is over.
The day/date Presidential model will be much larger in diameter than the current model which in my opinion wil kill the value of the current production models.
I am currently wearing the new style GMT and I love it. However- I will end up with 2-3 year old all 18k/blue Sub which I paid a small fortune for that will be non current after this change. If you are looking at a Sub or a Prez you might want to wait- particulary for the Prez.
My source of information is the store manager of the largest Rolex dealer in NC
Right you are - all these changes were announced at the Besel World show months ago. I saw the new Presidential (called the Day Date II) and like the old, but that's just me, and I'm prejudiced. More cool is the new Deep Sea Sea Dweller - huge, and good to 3300 meters.

There have been a few Deep Sea Dwellers shipped or will be shipped soon. The price is freaking ridiculious but I have heard that is a major cool watch. With all of the no holes in the case/engraved inner bezel changes that have come about recently I thought that Rolex would leave the current popular models alone for a while- wrong.Personally - I think that changing the Sub is just plain stupid.

Right you are - and I just noticed something about the Deep Sea - the dial on that watch is the same diameter as the old Sea Dweller. It's just bigger because of the inner and outer bezel. Trust Rolex to innovate only so much.
Purchased a Rolex about 14 years ago, have come to accept it as a part of me. Rolex can change all they want I am happy with what I have. Admittedly it is always interesting to see what our Swiss Friends are up to.

Any pics out there of the products being discussed? I think I shall go looking for some. For those in the know, please correct me if I post the wrong images (as in images of the old watch when I think it is the new release.
Funny, the knock against Rolex (at least amongst us IWC guys), used to be that Rolex never changed anything, that their 1973 catalog could serve as their 2003 catalog.
Obviously not the case anymore.
I'm with Maybe Next One, when you find a good one, stick with it. Most of my IWC's (I have about 20) are older than I am, and currently only have one current production model. When serviced properly, they all keep excellent time.
