Well, I couldn't stand it anymore. Our '06 Subaru Outback was a POS. I hated that car and I complained so much that my wife finally caved in even though she didn't want to spend any more money on cars. I tried pushing my wife towards a Cayenne, an A4/S4, but she fell in love with the CRV! Anyway, we're heading to Tahoe in a couple of weeks and I was not looking forward to driving the Subie down there so I just went and bought the thing! We looked at the Rav 4 too, but that that seemed cheap in design and engineering by comparison. I like it because it is a Honda, doesn't require any schedule tune ups for 100k, and it doesn't have a timing belt. Hopefully all I have to do is change oil for 100k. I'd post pictures, but does anybody really care? It's silver with black cloth interior.
P.S. It does have an exiting 166 hp (!) V-tech motor. I don't know how much it weighs, but it sure is a slow fat pig!!!

Just wait until you take it in for service and you have your first "sticker shock" experience.
We have an 02 Odyssey, and I remember once they had to do something extra during a service inspection like replace a filter. And it was an additional charge, of course. The service guy said sheepishly, "Um, we had to replace 'X' so it is going to be $99 today."
I asked in friendly voice,"What was $99?"
"The service inspection", he said. "Usually it is $69, but we had to replace an extra part that wasn't covered by your Honda care."
I was embarrassed because I know I flashed him a "Dude...you are kidding, right? 30 bucks? I spill more than that when I drink." before I caught myself.
Hondas are the best. Post some pics.
Maybe there will be a better family vehicle available when it is time to replace our Odyssey, but I doubt it. We have 3 Girl007's and a Baby007...so our choices get narrow. I see another Odyssey in our future.
Just remember, that car will drive until the wheels fall off. If you shoot a missile at it, maybe, just maybe, it will fail. Other than that, you should be fine.

That's my plan! Family beater.

What was wrong with your Subie? I have an 05 and have had no trouble with it except for a headlight going out.
The Subie was rough. I mean I expected that in my '05 STi (and that car was bulletproof) but I was expecting a little more refinement in the family car. It seriously has as bad as drivability as my Dad's old '78 Fiat 131 sedan. That car chugged and bucked so much that me and my sister used to ask my dad to make it chug. We thought it was fun! The Subie was the same way. It was impossible to drive it smoothly. It felt like the engineers were working on the fuel mapping and just said, "Well, that's good enough for government work!" It rattled so much I thought it was just going to fall apart. In CONSUMED oil. It only had 32k on it and we bought it new. I was starting to look at the 2nd power steering pump replacement, clutch was sticking.....I could go on.

So, is the sex of baby007 still a mystery? I have a 2 yr old son and he loved the CRV. He could walk around in between all of the seats. I'll get some pics tonight.

I had an '05 Legacy GT. I thought it was a great car. If I could have kept both (that and the CS), I would've but I couldn't justify paying premium gas for two vehicles. I have to say though, the LGT I had was solid. I can't say the same for the CS. No regrets, though, as the CS is a blast to drive.
Too bad about your Subaru experience. I've owned several (strange for the Atlanta area, I know). Never had a problem. Buy most of them two-three years old, low miles. Last month I bought my favorite yet. An 04 Outback 35th Anniversary 3.0 H6 Station Wagon with the much improved 5-speed AT. 13,200 miles, MSRP ~$29K, bought for less than half of that. Belonged to a wealthy older couple, kept at their million dollar winter home in S Fla. They had major health problems....
I hope my next H6 is behind my seat, & with a manual transmission & RWD.

Baby007 is a boy...people say he looks like the new James Bond sometimes.
