I'm looking to the community for some help in finding a investment/financial planner in the DC/Baltimore area. I guess I'm looking for someone more on the investment side. Also, I want someone who can make unbiased/independent recommendations.
This is actually only my second attempt at finding one. If you have any advise/recommendations, I'm open to suggestions.
Moto---Too bad you're in DC. My wife's firm near San Diego would be good for you to consider. My suggestion is to first make sure whoever you use is a "fixed fee" operation; meaning they only charge you say 1%/year of funds invested. The alternative is broker/insurance businesses whose profit depends on selling you annuities and insurance and making lots of stock trades for you. The former may tend to only take larger accounts (high six figures minimum) but worth looking for.
Thanks for the info. I will definitely keep those things in mind. I'm finding it very difficult to find someone unbiased that I (and my wife) can trust.
I'll keep looking!

Moto,
The firm I use in San Francisco just merged with a firm in Vienna, VA. Their name is Yeske Buie and their website is Yeske Buie Wealth Management. Good luck.
