Upcoming CAFE standards

At least I think it is the CAFE standards we are concerned about. Anyway, we all know that our beloved Porsches, as well as any other high performance automobiles are threatened by the upcoming fuel consumption and CO2 emission requirements. It seems to me that the standards are being applied unfairly in the world of internal combustion machines. For example, there are prodigious numbers of high performance water craft and personal aircraft out there, not to mention RV land yachts with far worse polluting and gas hogging capabilities that are being left alone while our beloved cars take it on the chin. Also, I remember reading somewhere that gas powered lawn mowers, weed trimmers and leaf blowers are far worse polluters than the automobile. Am I mistaken, or are the standards being unfailrly applied? And, if they are being discriminately applied, why aren't we and the auto industry pointing this out to somebody and challenging the unfair practice?

coal power plants are by far the worse polluters if you're using green house gas emmissions as your standard. I read recently that autos worldwide contribute about 13% of that pollution. Auto manufacturers spend millions per year on lobbyists at all levels of govt. fwiw.

Looks like sportscars have become the scapegoat of politicians trying to look green.
